Fruits, Veggies, and All Things Like That

Yahoo-Friday! I can't believe how fast this week went by. I am one week closer to school wrapping up for the year and me having a little summer down time.
This past week I crossed the line from working along in normal  mode to the point where I need this year to be done! Work always seem explode at this time and there seems to be an endless list of things that  must be done right now.The kids have also  shut down and I am so ready to wrap things up. I finish with my seniors on Monday morning and then I am just down to my sophomores.
10 more days with them!
And Friday also means it is Paint Party Friday. Thanks to Kristen and Eva for hosting.
So today I have a few assorted things to show you.

Sketching and then water coloring fruits and veg for the class I am taking with Tracy Fletcher King. I've spent most of effort mixing colors to try to get a more accurate color for each piece. I didn't know water coloring is all about the layers. I've got to practice more with my shading. But I've learned a lot already.
AND
how relaxing.
I haven't gotten very far into the class but Tracy is an excellent teacher and I am enjoying it and myself quite a bit.
(And a very good way to escape the end of the school year hullabaloo.)
We've also done these circles and practiced getting out colors smooth and even and working within the lines.
Must practice some more!

And here's a journal page I am also linking up to Art Journal Journey.
Thanks to Valerie and Susi for hosting that site!
The theme this month is masculine and feminine, and I am going the traditional feminine route with this piece. The background is a Gelli print that I made on some bright pink paper.  I made the houses by die cutting the shapes (Sizzix/Tim Holtz) and then did a bunch of drawing and coloring with Copics. I didn't make the houses for this particular page, (boy did I enjoy making these buildings), but they fit so well I decided to add them. Then I die cut the woman (Sizzix) from black paper and added the stamped quote from Dyan Reavely.
This lady's stance is so confident. I love that about her.
Not a meek 1950's gal who let all the men put her "down" in her place.

So anything big on your plans this weekend?  I have a few possibilities floating around in my head, and I am looking forward to meeting new people and maybe doing a bit of shopping or boating.
Whatever I end up doing, I am excited for a little break from work and hopefully some recharge before another crazy week (graduation week) begins.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Your AJJ is terrific, I love the pretty houses crowded together in a friendly way and your quote is very amusing, I'll take that advice! The red background works very well too.

I love the looseness of your sketched and watercolored veggies. I also really like the your minimal use of color in your feminine art journal page. Blessings!

Your water colors are looking good. I know that working with them is much more difficult than it looks. Your journal page is outstanding! Those house really do look fun to color in! But most of all that quote made me just laugh!
School ends for us next week! Just want to be done with this year and hope for a better year next fall!
