Shibori

It is a new week!  Hope everyone had a great weekend and are ready to be back to Monday again.
So recently I learned a little something about Japanese Shibori dyeing.  (Thanks Corinne!)
I decided to do a little dying the other day.
In shibori dyeing you fold in a regular pattern, and depending how you fold, depends what pattern you make on the fabric. I tried lots of different folds and twists and all kinds of things.
I tried this SEI spray dye this time.  I liked the colors, but I had to work around the spray because it didn't get absorbed as deeply into the fabric as dye in a cup or bucket.
I LOVE these colors.  Wish the fabric would stay as dark once it dried.
Here's my clothesline which I dried my fabric pieces on! Ha-ha- and it worked great.
And here's some of favorite pieces.
Diamonds!
Rectangles.
This one looks a little more like tie-dye.

I cheated with this piece.  I sprayed other colors on it as it had way too much white.
Now I just need to set up my sewing machine (now that I made some space in my daughter's old room) and do some sewing.'It was a lot of fun, and I bought myself some indigo dye to try it again. Traditional shibori technique uses this type of dye.
Will let you know how that works out.
Have a great Monday everyone, and thanks for stopping by!

Another summer popsicle explosion. I've a friend coming this weekend for a visit, and some more canvas, might be a fun activity for us to do again. Got loads of dye powder...hmmm. Did you make anything with your other pieces, or are they waiting in the wings? Try checking out pinterest, there are some great shibori tips there too. xox
