Our Time

So I have another page to link to Art Journal Journey today. This page is called our time, and it refers to the couple whose photo is on the bottom of the page. The are cut out from one of TH found relative cards, and then I colored in their clothes, and gave her earrings and a heart necklace. The background is a Gelli print I made on some designed paper I happen to have. I've discovered Gelli printing over  old scrapbook paper  is a great way to use paper I would otherwise never use.
In a way this journal page is kind of like a scrapbook page.
So a couple of people asked me yesterday what I made the blue and white prints on (yesterday's post All About Blue), and what sun paper or cyanopaper is.  Here's the package of the paper I used.
The paper is treated with sun sensitive chemicals and when you expose it to the sun, any part blocked from the sunlight will leave the shape of that image on the paper. When you first bring the sheets in from the sun the paper is grey and then once you wash it to stop the reaction, it turns that blue color. The images don't turn blue. They remain white or a grey color depending how much sun they reflected and how long they are left in the sun. I found  that the darker the object I put down, the brighter white the resulting final image would be. I also found out that when I put fabric cut outs down,  the image on the fabric also came though.
You can see that here on this butterfly sheet. I thought the butterfly would block the netting underneath it but it didn't.
You can also see here some of the fabric designs on these 3 triangles.
Anyhow, it was a lot of fun and I am thinking of all kinds of ways to use this paper.
So today I am going along with my husband when he goes to Vermont for a meeting. I think I am going to have him drop me off at a museum while he's working, and he can pick me up afterwards. Will let you know if I do, or not.
Have a great day, and thanks for visiting.

An amazing page - yes that is a really good idea to use patterned papers and make them our owns with prints or color. This blue print paper is really interesting! Thank you for explanation!
Hope you will have a good day and maybe you can join a museum!
