Widow to My Soul

Happy Friday everyone! This week went by pretty fast, but I will say with the very high heat and humidity early in the week I am pretty wiped out. At least now we are back into some better and more normal temperatures.:)
So today I have a journal page that I am linking to 2 sites. Check out all the cool art at Paint Party Friday. Thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting. Also check out all the cool art at Art Journal Journey. This month's guest host is Corrine and the theme is windows.
This is a mixed media page. I started with a Gelli print. Then I added some ink, tape, paint, a die cut, some stamping and some plastic shell beads.
The face in the window is light on purpose.  I wanted it to represent the soul, which isn't a big bold visible thing. Of course people's true souls sneak out all the time, don't they?
I debated whether to use the little plastic shell beads or some regular shells or even some doodled paper shells, but I liked the color and 3D pop the plastic beads gave to the page. Hole and all!
And since my page is about the sea, how about a few photos from the sea last weekend?
I wonder if the cormorants start to flock up in the late summer. usually you don't see such a big group of them flying.
These baby gulls are are big as their parents.

You can't see the floating motion since this is a still photo, but what cool texture and color pattern  this seaweed had.
Looking back to shore. This from my zoom, all zoomed in.  We are 6 miles away, but it was such a clear and gorgeous day!
And how about a big splash!
Hope you have some enjoyable weekend plans, or even lack of plans, because sometimes having nothing on the agenda is better than having something on the agenda. I think I need to help do some cleaning out of my mother's house this weekend. Waiting to hear from my brother about that. (Although it sounds like it would be a beautiful boating day so if he can't make it maybe we'll boat instead!) I don't think going through everything of my Mom's will be fun, but will be good to get it done. Hopefully it won't take up too much of my weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!

Love your journal-page with the beautiful window and quote - I love the sea very much, too, and I am always sad that it's not often possible for me to visit the sea - but at least I have the Rhine! Love the photos, thanks for sharing, Have a lovely day, hugs, Valerie

Beautiful journal page, and let me tell you something, my soul doesn't sneak out it's loud and proud splashed on every colourful page!! Colour is my soul and it took me almost fifty years to figure that out!
I almost missed the faint face in the door...glad you mentioned it! It's was blending so perfectly! Great photos too! Go boating while the weather is nice... the other thing will wait!

Lovely "soulful" window. Have you noticed the commerants on the moorings as you glide down the Piscataqua? There is one on almost every free spot. And some on the island. More here than you think. xox

Great journal page. I love the sea elements added!

I do like those plastic shells. They add color and texture without yakking away from the rest of the page. The brown sand dollar stamp is my favorite. Diane fro PPF

I realize this one is a bit late, but I've been busier than a beaver. You get a LOT of use from your gelli plate. I can't seem to appreciate mine, because it's defective. Got that way the SECOND time I used it.

I like the shells and the die cuts, too. You made this not only colorful, but a great example of mixed media.
