A Quick and Yummy Post

Last week I made the hubby a birthday cake.  It was a lightly lemon flavored cake, filled with lemon curd and then frosted with a vanilla flavored Swiss meringue buttercream.

The frosting could have used just a tad bit more sugar in it. I don't need super sweet, but a little sweeter is good. I don't know if my impending cold made me read the recipe wrong or if I measured wrong, or if the recipe was just wrong. It is a live and learn situation.
I tried out a new technique-using multiple colored frostings together in a pastry bag. I like how that looks kind of tie-dyed. Thought my overall frosting job wasn't my favorite. But it is all play!
I do like the big flowers this tip made. It is kind of a spring colored choice, but I think my hubby, having had Halloween cakes much of his life, liked this better.
And I forgot to buy new candles so we had to do a bit math to figure out his age.
But he and my daughter are both civil engineers so they should be able to do the math.
You would think.
Yum.  The hubby liked his cake. That's all that matters.
I had fun making it, so that's all that matters too.
I am off and on the run. Things to do and people to see!
Enjoy your Saturday!

And if hubby liked it, that's all that matters. Of course, I think it's charming. I liked the beauty of the frosting, even if it wasn't as sweet as you expected. I was a mechanical engineer in a previous life, then I was a statistician, so I can also do the math (grin). My human factors degree would ensure that you double checked the recipe, sort of like measure twice, cut once.

This came out so beautiful. No wonder you wanted to take the next session at King Arthur. Lucky hubby. So fun to spend the day with you!,,πŸπŸπŸπŸ‚πŸ˜¬
