Grungy and Oily

So I have another page for Art Journal Journey today. This month the theme is For the Record, and it is being hosted by Linda.  The idea is to pick out a song and make a page that represents it. I chose a song from Pink Floyd called Welcome to the Machine.
This song was released in 1975, and I hadn't listened to it for quite awhile. But then when I was driving home from the grocery store late Saturday afternoon it came on the radio and this page popped into my head.

I die cut lots of gears from black paper.  Then I rubbed then with copper and bronzed colored paint and glued them down on a Gelli print. I used some black paint to make all the grease and oil drips. I wanted the page to look not just like an old machine but also to symbolize the negative parts of the big industry "machine".
Here's the whole page and then 1 more close up.
I added the free white butterfly as a bit of an antithesis for the big oily machine.
I can't say I am thrilled with the way this whole page photographed, but for some reason it looks much better in close ups.

We're having some cold and wintery weather right now. Yesterday it was a great day to make art and be a little creative in the kitchen too.

I made the hubby some chocolate chip cookies. That made him very happy.
And I made myself some blueberry muffins for my breakfasts this week.
They're saying we could get 4 inches (10 centimeters) of new snow today. I guess it means my drive is not going to be very good either way.
I thought it was spring and this weather was going to be over.
Hope your day is sunny and warm.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Hard to say what I liked best day, but being greedy, I have to admit it's those blueberry muffins. LOVE the journal page and the great song you chose to Journal about, those gears look fabulous. Have a safe drive to work, and thanks for joining us at Art Journal Journey again! Hugs, Valerie

PS I hope you don't get that snow. It was freezing rain a bit when I got up with our dog but it has changed to just rain.
