Journey Under the Sea

Today my journal page is about a journey under the sea.

Yahoo! Friday has arrived. After a week of nice weather it is suppose to go downhill for the weekend but maybe I can still get some yard work done. they say wind on Sunday, and I want to spread bark mulch, but our little annoying black flies were making it difficult the last few weekends. Isn't it time for them to be going away by now?
I'm linking up to Paint Party Friday. Big thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting.
I am also linking up to Art Journal Journey. The theme this month is journeys.
Be sure to stop by both sites to check out some great art.
I began this page by being inspired when I found these 3 little plastic stingrays in a  toy area of a nature store.  They made me think of making this page, and since they were very inexpensive, I bought them. I like how they give pop off the page more than the paper die cuts.
I used one of my Gelli prints for my background, and then used lots of die cuts along with a few pre-made images to make this page. Then I had a jar of black sand molding paste which I used on the bottom. When my local craft store went out of business last fall they had these "grab bags" filled with assorted items. The bags were filled with probably close to $75 or $100 worth of items and they cost anywhere between $5-$20 to buy. I probably would never have bought the black sand but it was in one of the bags I bought, and I really like how it worked on this page.
A couple of close ups for you.
And I hav a couple of random pages from my spring-summer journal I am keeping.
This journal is more of a personal memory journal, I think of it as a scrap journal.
Hope everyone has something good on their agenda this weekend.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your weekend.

Love the underwater page with those stingrays! In Israel I visited an underwater sea observatory at the Red Sea, and it was very fascinating, if a bit scary! The other pages are great, too, good to journal your proud memories, especially the fence! My weekend will be the same programme as every day! Hugs, Valerie

Well you sure spend enough time on the water to make that wonderful underwater scene. Flies aren't too bad here, which is great. Yard work is happening. Got to get some veg going soon, and make some art, and...like always the list. Kiddo's coming up for the weekend to celebrate the big 30th we missed last weekend. Can't believe my son is 30. Nice memories of your journey to VT. I'm of to VT soon for my polymer workshop, really looking forward to it. One of these days we will get together...xox

Your underwater journey is beautiful, and it sounds like you got a REALLY good deal on that black sand. Sounds like you got a good deal on the grab bag(s), too!

I have been to several places where sea creatures were featured, including Sea World in San Diego and the Chicago aquarium. The beauty of this page reminded me of both these places.

I loved your random journal pages today, too. Your fence painting was a hoot!

I'm SO glad you enjoyed the zoo photos. More to come either tomorrow or Sunday.

I know that two species with cognition are whales and dolphins, and I will search through my cognitive research (I still get a few journals) to see if I can learn which other mammals display cognition. Thanks for mentioning this in your comment to me today.

My weekend? Busy, busy with mundane chores that I can no longer put off, like cleaning my filthy home and working in my garden now that the daytime temps will dip below 70 F.

Thanks for the upbeat post! Your underwater sea art is fabulous, not only in the real colors of the ocean but also in the texture you have added. And I love the little stingrays. They really do make a bold statement.

Your Sea Life page looks nice, the background reminds me of a fishing net with its texture. I also like your nice collage page with the fence, well done.
Springtime bring us flowers but also a lot of cleaning and repairs in house and garden. ;)
Happy and creative springtime.
