Pop's is Open!

Happy T Day everyone.  It is Tuesday and time to stop by Elizabeth blog-Altered Book Lover and her T for Tuesday Post
to see what drink and food adventures the T Gang has been up to this week.
So I live in tourist country, and now that we are on the doorstep of the big summer tourist season, lots of places are opening back up. One of the yummiest dinner places around us is a greasy spoon that makes the best fried food. Its about the only place I can eat fried food and not have a heavy and disgusting stomachache afterwards.
I don't know their secret, but they fry food and you don't even get a grease spot on the bottom of the paper serving containers.
And they opened back up 2 weeks ago.
So last Saturday was such a gorgeous day, I decided to take my family out for  dinner. Plus we were all tired form doing all our yard work. We went to  Pops. Their onion rings were calling me.
This is the front of Pop's. You order and pick up your food here.
I think Pop's must have been built in the 1940's or 1950's and I don't think its changed in all those years.
Here's another view.
It isn't much of a place.
If you don't do take out you can either go eat in the flipper room or up on the roof of the flipper room. We usually sit on the roof if the weather's right.

Here's the menu. I ended up having a hot dog but the whole belly clam roll was calling me. I decided I was going to try to be "healthy" and skip the extra fried food and have a hot dog. (And I know the hot dog isn't the healthiest. Nor are the onion rings. Good thing we only go there 2 or maybe 3 times a season.)
I wanted to try one of those oreos, but the servings are so large (the hubby and I just split a small order of rings) who has room for one?
The hubby never sits long enough for a decent photo. The funny part is then he gets persnickety at me for never getting a nice photo of him.
Anyhow, it was a totally junky but delicious dinner.  And here I went on about the onion rings and they are mostly hidden behind my soda.
There we go.
Pop's consistently gets high ratings on all kinds of websites. I think I may have to break my rule about not going there very often and get one of those clam rolls. Even though its been a few days since we went there that sandwich is calling me still.
Happy T Day everyone.

You're telling me that's a SMALL order of onion rings? I had onion rings for my evening meal and was going to say I had enough to qualify for the $8.95 order. That is until I saw the size of that basket of onion rings. Even I don't think I can eat THAT many.

I loved the sign. It had just the right amount of rust (grin). The ambiance of that place looks very interesting and like something you would find on or near the beach.

Thanks for sharing Pop's Greasy Spoon (and your drinks of course) with us for T this Tuesday.

Oh my, that food looks good. Sometimes those small places really do wonderful food, and you have made me hungry although I just got up today. You go again and eat a clam roll for me, that way you are doing a good deed and don't need to get a bad conscience! Have a great T day, hugs, Valerie

What a fun place! The onion rings look really delish! What are the red sauce things? Tomato ketchup?
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) I don't like hot dogs. I don't like the soft bread roll and I'm not keen on processed sausages or mustard.
The clams I would love to try, but Pops is not exactly down the road....
Happy T-day!

I'm with Lisca, Pop's looks like a fun and yummy place!...but definitely not healthy, as you pointed out ;) the sign for the fried oreos caught my eye. Guess you can fry just about anything! thanks for sharing your onion rings....happy T day!

That sure looks like a fun and yummy place.
Great photos and tour Erika...the signage is classic.
Great temptation so close to you.
I admit we hardly ever eat deep fried foods it seems.
My husband would be beside himself over the clam strips.
He hails from Rhode Island and it has been awhile since we've been up north.
Happy T Day

What an super destination, it looks a delicious tasty treat, especially those onion rings. We have a saying here, that, " a little of what you fancy now and again, does you good". So enjoy when you can.
Happy Tuesday

Fried food is my favorite, sadly they don't belong to the healthy menulist:-) All this food is making me hungry. Hotdogs are a favorite of my boys.
Happy T day

This is my kind of place! I can see me up on the roof-top patio enjoying those great-looking onion rings :) Well, once my taste buds are back to normal. I still can' smell or taste anything. I think this spot would become a regular eating place for me if I lived anywhere near.
