The Tourist

Happy Friday everyone. Its another cool and rainy one here in New Hampshire. We've literally had rain all week. The good news is it keeps the kids more mellow at school than if the sun was out and it was beautiful. Then they would all want to go to the beach. The bad news is that it is suppose to rain all weekend too. The bright side to that s it means I think it will be a good art weekend.
And I can stay inside where it is warm.
So I have a piece today I am linking to Paint Party Friday. Thanks to Kristen and Eva for hosting. I am also linking to Art Journal Journey. This month's theme is journeys.
So my journal page today is called the tourist.  I painted the mixed media face and palm tree on a Gelli printed paper, then I cut them out and put them down on this piece of tropical scrapbooking paper I had in my stash. When I cut out the fronds of the palm tree I cut inward to make individual leaves. Some of the leaves hang off the edge of the paper so you can see the carpet underneath the right side of the page.
I also stamped the Hawaii map and the Aloha word.
I still have a lot to learn about painting faces, but I don't think this one is too bad.

So I need to wish all those Mom's in the US (and any place else that celebrates Mother's Day this Sunday) a happy mother's day. And I wish you all a great weekend.

In Finland it's been unusually warm and Mother's Day should also be sunny.

Oh, I'd like to travel with her to Hawaii! Se looks like fun companion.

I'd be smiling as broadly as your aloha lady if I could be in Hawaii today too. We also have had much much rain. Great page you created.

She is a beautiful Aloha girl... I love her happy mouth and what a fantastic idea with the palm tree leaves hanging over the edge -- makes it even more interesting than it is already.
Sorry for the rain - we have at least today sunny and warm weather - it was raining and cold the last days here as well. Not nice...
But so you will have indoor art time - that's super as well. isn't it!

Happy weekedn Erika!

What a very happy lady, she must like the sun. Fun that the palm tree is hanging over, giving a nice 3D effect and she has a pretty flower necklace, I'd quite like one of those.
A rainy day is fine by me, I could catch up on all sorts of indoor ploys.

I love the joyous feel of your art journal page with the pretty big blue eyed girl and the bright smile. I'm sure you'll have fun spending time in the studio, but I hope you at least have a little sunshine to enjoy the outdoors. Blessings!

You catch our weather after we get it. It's not fun to have all that rain, is it? I finally mowed today, so the mud is starting to dry out.

Your tourist is happy as can be, and so would I be if I were in Hawaii.

Hope YOU have a lovely Mother's day. I'm sure you will be treated well, because you are a very special person.

Aloha Erika,
A great journal design and no wonder she's smiling so much, being in gorgeous Hawaii! I would too. Love that palm tree.
Hopefully you will see some sun, although rainy days are certainly good for creative playtime. Enjoy no matter what the weather.
Happy PPF to you
