Blooming Iceland

Hi everyone. I've started going through my Iceland trip photos and decided I needed to start with pretty. All over Iceland there were beautiful flowers blooming, both wild and in the towns and cities.
There were blooms in the fields and on the beach and even in the larva fields.
Most of these wild flowers were not very tall, but that makes sense with all the wind and cold dark winters. I don't think that environment produces big tall blooms.
But they were gorgeous just the same.

This plant barely grew off the rock, but I love these tiny flowers.
 Same here.

And these fuzzy blooms or seed heads were so cool. I don't know what they are. I don't know what hardly any of these plants are. but I still enjoyed them.

Gorgeous flowers planted in a park in Reykjavik.

Flowers growing on a  turf roof.
 And in fields.

And every flowerbed, whether planted or wild, needs their own little fairy homes.
I love these. I wonder who put them up and how long they had been there. We discovered them when we went off exploring down a gravel road by a beautiful little church next to the sea.
Hope you enjoyed today's photos. There's more to come another day.
Thanks for visiting.

What wonderful flowers everywhere, and I am in love with those fairy homes! I am sure you will have loads of photos and impressions to share when you have everything sorted. Hope you have settled down at home again. Have a lovely day, hugs, Valerie

Oh what beauty! Thank you for sharing those lovely flowers. I don't know what they are either. Most look like what in the UK would be called 'rock plants'.
Even the planted sea of flowers in the park (marigolds?) are stunning.
The pixie houses are very unusual. So cute. Fascinating. I tried to read the sign. I can only say that the top line is a name (male as it ends in 'son'. As you probably know now, women's names end in 'dottir').

Super flower photos, some seem to be clinging so tight to the stony ground and rocks and still have lovely flowers. I really liked the row of small fairy houses as well. Look forward to seeing more photos of your trip.

Nicest things often come in small packages and these shorter flowers are an example of that - they are so lovely :) Loved your photos and adore those houses...

Oh my, what wonderful flowers and I love the rocks too, you certainly have an creative way of capturing their beauty. I especially like the shadow of the yellow flower on the black rock and the purple flowers cascading over the white rock landscape, they are stunning! Those houses were a great find, I'm loving their worn and weathered look. Fantastic photos and beautiful reminders of your trip. Happy Friday! J :-)

OH MY such gorgeous blooms everywhere you turned Erika!!!
I so enjoy the flora in other places.
The shadow pic is perfect.
The purple blooming plant made me think of creeping thyme.
Looks like sedums enjoy all of those rocks too.
The seed heads look like a card and I have never seen so many Calendula planted together...really splendid show.
Was it spring when you visited I am wondering?
The mixed flowers in the one photo are breathtaking too.
What a sweet little village at the end. I wanted to lean in closer and read the sign LOL which probably wouldn't do me a bit of good since it's probably written in Icelandic.
Your nature shots really take my breath away!

Always good to lead with the pretty and you sure did! Gorgeous photos -- it's hard to imagine so many pretty blooms come from such terrain. Especially near the rocky parts. Looks like you were traveling at a perfect season.

Such pretty blooms and strange that they seem to grown in volcanic soil.
Love the fairy houses in the field, so cute :)

Thanks for the totally new view of Iceland! I never think of Iceland as blooming - btw, great title! :) How warm does it get there?

Dearest Erika, thank you so much like seriously for taking me to Iceland through my desk with these beautiful flowers! I love flower and I've always wanted to see Iceland but I wasn't able to in my last Europe trip because I know it's a very expensive country so I am grateful for you sharing these blooms. They remind me of photos of alpine flowers that don't grow too tall or bushy due to the climate.

Thank you so much dearest Erika for sharing this to Timeless Thursdays :)
