Out in the Country

Happy Friday everyone.
Another week is winding down and it will be February all too soon. Here in New Hampshire, we're also suppose to get some cooler weather as the weekend goes on. Winter cold is returning. Oh no!
I had to go buy a new clothes dryer this past week as mine was smelling like burning rubber every time I used it. The new one arrives tomorrow! Since I just bought my washer about a month ago it seems like I just did this and now I'm back at it again.
But it will be good to clean up the piles of laundry.
That's what I have planned for my weekend.:)
So I have another piece for "Every Journal Page Tells a Story" at Art Journal Journey today.
Its off to the farm.
On this farm it is summer and the sun is shining and the cows and sheep in the field are very happy. They can munch on the flowers blooming in the grass and bask in the warmth of a beautiful day.
I picked up this farm animal stencil quite awhile ago, but had never used it. I thought I might use it for the sheep in my Iceland journal back last summer, but never did. So I had a new toy to play with. I stenciled with black paint, and then I added some painted grass and flowers, as well as the chicken's nest. I like these animals so I think you will be seeing this stencil again soon.
I used a watercolor crayon to color the background, and then I finished off the page with several stickers, including the farm girl.
I don't know if farming is really a simple life, but it is a way to connect with nature, which I think is always a good thing.
So off to my new classes for day #2. One of them looks like they might be a handful, even at 9 AM, but hopefully we will work it all out in the next few days.
Have a great day everyone!

A wonderful page - those stencils are great- so use them often - I am looking forward to that! You are right - I also think that really being farmer is not like having icecream..but for me this page represents not the special farmgirl but me ... reconnecting wit nature since I live her countryside my life turned so much better! My daughter told me that she will for sure go back to the city later.. ist's so much better she said... a nice life for sure here, but not as exciting as a young woman wished.I quite understand her♥
I think the new washer wanted to have a new dryer-- the old dryer missed his long time partner and was unhappy stinking...lol!
You will love the new one.. I love mine as well. I am glad my washer was bachelor till now and is happy with it's new partner♥♥♥dryer- so hopefully it will work some more years!

Happy weekend Erika!

Great art piece! I lived on a farm as a child and it is not simple. However, those are some really cool farm stamps. Yes, cold weather is on its way back. Come on, Spring!!!

What a lovely happy painting, although I wouldn't like to try to get past these cows. I like the hen floating on a yellow cloud. It's very clever how you have fitted all the animals and flowers. Very pretty.

I love your farm themed page. the animal stencil looks fantastic, I don't think farming is easy but it must be wonderful to live in the countryside surrounded by animals and nature.

What a fun page! Fancy having a stencil like that!
Congratulations on your new dryer. It is something that one cannot live without. Well, I do. We live in a hot country and don't need one really.
Have a good weekend,
Lisca

I am SO late visiting today. I was out all day.

I LOVE that stencil. Wish I had it so I could use it for the rooster alone. It's a wonderful piece, and, although I would not like to live on a farm (I'm a small town girl), I do like your artwork.

Hope your classes settle down and you get a great bunch of kids in the end. Have a great weekend, now that it's Friday night in my world.

I love the black sheep on your page. :-D Is it July, yet? I so don't want the cold weather we're supposed to get this weekend. Though I'll take cold over snow and ice any day.

Farm life is never simple if you have animals or even a big garden. Animals get sick and seems like those pesky pests always find the best veggies. You either have too much sun and not enough rain or too much rain. I liked the life while I had it but I am also glad we have moved on to a different life.
Your journal page really told a story to me - have you ever been attacked by a rooster? I have and believe me it is NOT fun.
