Second on the Second

Happy April 2 everyone. Its time for another Second on the Second post over at Altered Book Lover, Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog.
I guess if I can't have real spring blooms outside right now, making some is the way to go.
I will show you some Tyvek blooms I made back in April of 2014. (Tyvek is this fake fiber material that us used to wrap houses with before their outer siding is added and is also used to make mailing bags as it is strong and waterproof.)
Here's the link to the original post: More Flowers.
So I started with this used post office mailing bag made out of Tyvek. I know this material has another name, but I can't think of what it is.
I die cut some flowers and used alcohol inks to color them. I also used some brads to connect the layers together.
Finally I wrapped some wire around the brad to act as a stem.

SUPER SUPER easy, and not anything really wild or out of the ordinary.
But adding them with some velvet strawberries and leaves along with a couple of paper flowers makes a cute little bouquet I still have out today.
And better yet, I put them in a mini glass jar that was originally the packaging for some kind of crafty supply. It might been some mini Prima paper flowers or  maybe some brads. Either way,its a nice little spring bouquet that never wilts or needs fresh water added to it.
That's all from this New Hampshire winter wonderland.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Love your tyvek flowers and the little bouquet looks great. I've only used it till now for painting and heat-shrinking, must try some flowers. Have a lovely day, hope you soon get real flowers. Hugs, Valerie

Oh wow. I am in AWE of this post. I am a huge fan of tyvek, one of the greatest recyclables around. I was bummed when the PO started adding the red to the back, so I only have a couple of those that don't have that on the back anymore. I simply adore the flowers, and I see your AI is as expensive as it is here.

Thanks for sharing this second look with us on the 2nd.

That looks like fun. Might have to go buy me some flower punches. And why use alcohol inks instead of paint? Do the inks adhere to the Tyvek better?
