I'm Home

Hi everyone. Its Friday afternoon and I am lounging on the couch. I took my  walk this morning, as my hospital release says I am suppose to, and now I am just relaxing. Amazing how good I feel just 3 days after surgery.
They say it is the walking. Its really hard to get moving, especially at first, and with the belly stitch pain who wants to move, but it does make a huge difference.
I wouldn't have expected this at all.
I even said I might make it into the studio tomorrow to a little easy doodling. No lifting yet though. Not up to that at all.
I came home last evening and it was great to sleep in my own bed and see the dogs. The hubby will be home by this evening. I will be glad when he's back home. I will say the care at Massachusetts General Hospital was outstanding. Everything from the nurses to the doctors. Funny story, one of the nurse trainees was a former student of mine from many years ago and one of my nurses was the cousin of the woman who runs the doggie day where the dogs go and where they stayed while we were in the hospital. It sure is a small world sometimes.

Here's a page in my drawing journal before I went into the hospital. I was stating I was ready for surgery, but now I think I can say I am ready to be home and to recover fully.
Its just good to be back doing some of my normal things. That is the most comforting thing. :)
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Erika, welcome home!
I think that you are wise to do what the doctor wants and in moderation in the beginning.
Wow, you are so right...what a small world it is :)
I do hope that your husband comes home soon to help you some. Don't be to proud to ask for help. You don't want to be tearing any stitches!
You must feel better now that the surgery is over so maybe Snoopy needs a new page...a healing page :)

Hugs, Jan

I am really happy to hear that you are back home again, and can get out and walk about, just don't overdo it. Yes, it's a small world. Glad the hospital cared for you both well. Take care of yourself! BIG hugs, Valerie

Hi Erika,
It was good to read that you are back home and that your husband will be back soon as well.
Take care of yourselves on your recovery, one day at a time and look forward to changes the surgery has meant for you both.
Home is always the best place to be, with your own things close to hand.
It was a super journal page and I think you will remember these past days for a very very long time.
Hugs Yvonne xx

I am thrilled for you. Sounds like your husband didn't reject the kidney, either. I am so happy you are home and resting in your own bed. I know it sounds like you are just as happy to be there as i am to read you are safe and sound. Now I can breathe! (for both of us)

Hello Erika. Back home, isn't that great, back home.
Look after yourself and your hubby too when he comes back soon, and maybe he is already back.
I like your Snoopy piece here, that's fun.
Best wishes and love to you both.

wow! Welcome home! I've been thinking of you. I'm glad it all went so well. Now it's up to your hubby's immune system I suppose. We'll keep praying (and keeping everything crossed!)
Well done you for walking in spite of the discomfort. It does help as you have found.
Oh it's a small world isn't it! So good that you have positive experiences of the hospital, the staff and the treatment.
Now a big Get Well Soon for you both,
Hugs, (gently because of the stitches)

I'm so glad to hear you're home again and that both surgeries went well. Yes, it is a small world! Your pre-surgery page is very cute. I think that's exactly how I would have been feeling. So good to have it over with, I bet.

Hugs, Eileen

I always looked out for a post from you to hear how you feel and all went and can't believe that I didn't see this one on my dashboard - I am just stupid ----
or blind! Or both! Looked now again and it is there .

Your Snoopy page is lovely!

I'm so glad you are home and recovering well and that your husband will be home soon. I know what you mean about the walking. My doc was huge on that and I think she was right. And the incisions. Pay attention to the lifting thing. You've had far more aggressive surgery than my little ol' gallbladder and I think I got a little full of myself a day or two before I should have!

Happy recovery!
