Rain

It's been raining all day here. The remnants of the horrible hurricane that flooded Houston has moved our way but thankfully they say it won't last more than the day. No floods for us, but definitely  this storm is dropping a decent amount of rain  even after it has been churning and raining for many days as it moved from the Gulf of Mexico here to the Northeast East.
So since it was dark and wet, I enjoyed a low key day.  The cooler weather motivated me to spend a little time in the kitchen this morning so I made a big pot of chili (my husband's style-no beans)  and also a lemon, chocolate chip and poppy seed cake.
The cake is yummy and doesn't have any type of frosting on it. This way here I can bring a slice for a snack at work.
And after my nap I made a little art time.

Blue and copper are my colors for Yvonne's fun challenge over at Art Journal Journey. Its time to Colour My World.
All this cool weather has me thinking of fall I guess. I love painting leaves with copper paint. I think it really makes them look like fall oak leaves.
I added some little pieces of mica to the moon to give it a little more depth.
Tomorrow is the Labor Day holiday here in the US. One more day off for me. It's been a good weekend so far, and I hope yours has been too.

I spent most of the day crocheting and watching TV. I'm baked a sour cream pumpkin bread. The perfect way to spend a rainy day. Your bundt pan is so pretty. I like the colors on your Fall page even if I'll be dragged kicking and screaming into the season. Enjoy your day off.

Your autumnal art is gorgeous, metallics and mica are just right there to give it that extra touch. And the cake looks divine, wouldn't say no to a slice of that! The chili looks fantastic, too. Glad you had a fun day in spite of the bad weather. Hugs, Valerie

Golly, I don't even LIKE chili, and this looks awesome. So does the cake. Please save me a piece. You can even fax it to me (grin).

That's a beautiful AJJ piece. I wish it felt like fall here. It's been so hot and dry, I would gladly take a bit of your autumn feeling weather here. I love the leaves and the beautiful colors you chose, too.

Hope your Labor Day is fabulous.

Wow, I love the metallic paints, the copper really shimmers and shines and is perfect for fall leaves 😁. It's hard to think autumn is here already, where does the time go! If fall looks anything as beautiful as your page though, I say bring it on 😀. Happy Labor Day! J 😊

First of all your Chilli and the cake both look delicious. Nothing can beat baking on a dull day, I think the aroma in your kitchen must have been mouth watering.
I love the autumn colours on your journal page and the beautiful copper shades of the leaves.
Thank you Erika, I am so happy that you created this page for Art Journal Journey.
