Welcome October

October has arrived! Even though we're suppose to have some warmer weather this week, we had our first light frost last night and it was cold enough we actually had a  fire in our fireplace.
It's autumn in New Hampshire I guess.
Yesterday we brought our boat home to clean it up and so the hubby can winterize it. The marina closes next weekend for the season anyhow, and it better to get it put away before all the leaves fall off the trees and make another cleaning job. It sad though to think that boating season is over for another year, especially since last weekend I was lounging on the boat reading and enjoying what was like a beautiful summer day.
While the hubby was hooking up the boat for the trip home, I wandered around and took some photos.
It was cold yesterday, only about 53 degrees (12 degrees C) and no one was at the marina. You can see all the carts people who pay for moorings or for dock space to tie up their boats use to move their supplies out to their boats.
And some of the larger boats have already been lifted out of the water.
The sky was starting to clear when we got to the marina but no one was on the river. Not a boating day.
Behind this happy polka dot lobster is the closed up restaurant. No more lobster rolls for this season.
We keep our boat up the road in the marina's field on its trailer all summer. The hubby had it hooked up to his truck when I got back from my little walk and we were almost ready to roll on the highway home.
I got a few artsy shots too.

I'm planning for a quiet Sunday today and looking forward to it. Hope you're having a great day.

How nice you accomplished what was on your to-do list yesterday, while bringing in October with a bit of a chilly photo shoot. It's still quite warm here. Today it's supposed to be in the mid 80s, a come down from the 90s last week, but I'm hoping for highs in the 70s soon. That's when I'll be outside playing.

I was especially drawn to the rusty pipes and such you photographed. They got my heart racing. So glad you shared the first day of October in your world with us today!

You have some fabulously evocative photos here that say so clearly "end of season in a sailing community." So sad, no more lobster rolls. Really, these would make a fascinating wall-collage series -- a set of six or eight printed on small canvases or tiles and hanging as a grouping. I really, really, really love these!

Sounds like a full weekend. And a nippy one too. We're at the lake, fire in the fireplace to take off the chill, 30s at night but today will be a little warmer. Yesterday in the 50s like you. And we're closing too. Bittersweet, putting away all you love in the summer and knowing it will be a long winter before you see it again.

Mellow out today -- you deserve it!
