A Sleigh Ride

Hi everyone. Today I have a page for you from a December journal I am making and using. I wanted a journal that I could record holiday happenings, but  I don't have time on a daily basis to make  pages. So I decided to get a jump start on this idea and I made a journal, leaving lots of white or some other place to jot down my daily adventures.
I had this old watercolor journal on hand, with just a couple of pages I doodled on. Those pages were easy to fix by using gesso on them, but all the other pages were still fresh and crisp.
Here is my page for December 20. I used some paper scraps, a TH stamped image, and Impression Obsession quote stamps, a few stickers and a bit of snowman tape.
I am linking this up to Try It On Tuesday for their latest Winter Wonderland challenge. And this page also fits Bleubeard and Elizabeth's challenge over at Art Journal Journey Their challenge is My favorite Season or Tis the Season, and although I can't say winter is my favorite season (though a sleigh ride might be  lot of fun) , but it does work for Tis the Season.
Valerie also suggested I join in the More Mixed Media Challenge.  This month is anything goes with optional white. This page definitely works.
Now that is it December I've started using my journal and I am finding that for me, my idea has worked out great. I can squeeze in 5 minutes to record my day. When the month wraps up I will have a great end of the year wrap up journal. Plus, it has helped me use of some of the older stickers and papers in my stash!
I will show you more another day.
Thanks for visiting.

I suppose that in a way, blogging is a way of keeping a journal. People certainly kept journals in the past, often very detailed, and they are a treasure trove for historians.

That's a good idea to plan the design ahead of time. I like the row of snowmen though I wouldn't like to see them in my front yard. I think I like the idea of Winter, but don't actually love living in the cold and snow.Too bad Himself is such a whiner when it comes to humidity or we'd be heading for warmer climes. I hope you have a fun 5th Day of December to record in your journal.

What a fabulous idea and what a fabulous page! I love this and it is the perfect foil for journalling on. Why do I never have these good ideas?
Love the torn paper and the Christmas trees - just the right amount for page one - and the sleigh with its horses is perfect with the words on page two of your 20th December artwork.
Such a brilliant idea!
Hugs, Neet xx

This is amazing, Erika. It is simple, yet strong, and takes advantage of white space, too. I love it and it fits my theme at Art Journal Journey perfectly. Thanks for sharing it. I love that you are using your old stickers, etc., too. A great way to use them up.

I absolutely love this idea, Erika and it looks amazing! I imagine it's like your own December diary. You're very brave to try to journal throughout December, with all the festivities and Christmas preparations going on... hope you manage it.

Perfect page for our Winter Wonderland challenge AND for this month's AJJ challenge. Thank you so much for joining us at TIOT this week.

Love the clean and simple look of this - the torn papers provide such a great frame effect, and you'll have plenty of space to write in.
