Wednesday Art

Hi everyone. Hope your week has been going well. It's Wednesday, and I have busy day  because besides working this morning for a few hours I have a dentist appointment too. It's just a teeth cleaning, but hopefully there won't be any other bad news. But it will be my last time seeing my dentist who I've had for the last several decades since she is retiring next month. Or at least that's what she told me last time I saw her, but she has changed her mind several times already so we'll see. 😏

Today I want to share some art for a couple of challenges. First I have a page from my nature journal to share for Matilde's People challenge at Art Journal Journey.

To make this page I cut out the birds from 2 sheets of paper. I cut the square around them because the papers were designed with overlapping images of what looked like bird collecting cards or pages of a small book.   Then I inked the whole background yellow to try to pull them all together.

I added the TH man and also the fussy cut binoculars from some paper. Finally I finished off the page by outlining the border and using some yellow stickers to write out the word. I like how you can read the bird man words but they don't jump out at you. Doing that keeps your focus on the images, at least I think so.

My other piece is a tag for the new challenge blog Tag Along (and ATCS too). This is  their second month, and the challenge is drinks or anything goes. I went with a vase of flowers because they drink the water in the vase.

I inked the background and used a slightly less aqua shade of blue to cut out the vase with the flowers. Then I used an aqua pen to color the in the flowers and I added some darker turquoise glitter glue to them. I created a table top with a small piece of brown painted paper, and then I added the gold metallic paper sun, the buttons and a small word. Finally I outlined the edges of my tag.

I do wish I had done more to the background as I'm finding it a little bland right now, but it is what it is.

  I hope everyone has a wonderful mid-week!

  5. I like both of these Erika, but especially the man with the birds. I hope the dentist went well. Getting used to a new dentist is hard. Or doc, for that matter. I've had to do both in the past year or two. Next up -- new ophthalmologist!

  6. the yellow page reminds me of the goldfinches that come to the feeder. Such a bright and cheery yellow. I just ordered some paper bouquets, I like the buttons on yours. I've been seeing my dentist for 40 years. I won't go see anyone else as I'm such a big chicken. I told him when he retires, he has to come to my house to check on me. I hope the weather clears for your boat job.

  9. Sorry your dentist is retiring. I saw a new dr on Monday and she told me she is retiring April 1 of next year. Anyway, the art is lovely. Both so different but captivating. Have a good day.

  13. My dentist advertises her business as dentistry without fear but i still don't like going. Hope your visit went well.
Interesting journal page. I like how you covered all the pictures in a transparent yellow. It really does bring the various cut out pictures of the birds together. The binoculars are powerful and get the message across with the gentleman - he really is a birder. Now I looked up what to call a bird watcher and that is where I found 'birder'. It also calls them simply 'bird watchers' and goes on to say "that 'twitchers' specifically refers to someone who goes to great lengths to see rare or new bird species, often travelling long distances." I always thought it derogatory to call people twitchers. See what I have learned thanks to you and your great journal page Erika.

  16. Hope by now, your dental appointment went well.

I absolutely love the Bird Man journal page. It is stunning. Adding the TH paper doll was a perfect addition to Matilde's theme at AJJ.

I like your tag. I like that it is simple, yet fancy at the same time. You have been busy.
