Friday Faces-On the Water

Hi everyone; happy end of the week.  It's Friday again which means it's time for Nicole's Friday Face Off and also Gillena's Friday Lunch Break.

It's been a busy week and I've had no art time nor did I think any faces.  I almost thought about not joining in, but then I remembered I have lots of face photos from last weekend on the boat.  Hope you enjoy them.

You may get sick of seeing my dogs, but I never do. Here's Mr. Pete (above) and then Miss Maddie.

I can't forget the hubby.

The weather was so beautiful and the seas so calm we traveled out to the Isles of Shoals on one of our 2 boating days (although we did not go on any of the islands). The Isles of Shoals are several small islands about 6 miles off shore. A few of the islands have homes or research stations, and on Star island there is an old fashioned hotel (The Oceanic) built in 1876. In this next photo you can see  a group of visitors was being delivered to this island by a local tour company.

Although you can only see a glimpse of the Star Island  hotel on the far right of the photo, in this photo you can see some of the other buildings.

Here's a few seabirds on Square Rock which is off one of the islands. Funny, the rock doesn't look square at all.

Here's a few more island views, including a better view of the hotel.

I'll finish with this photo that I took when  we were back on shore.

Have a super Friday and start to your weekend.

  2. Never get tired of seeing those beautiful dog faces! The hotel would be a great setting for a Golden Age style mystery :-)

  9. Don't worry, Erika, I'll certainly never get tired of seeing your sweet dogs, so keep posting photos of them! I looked on the map where those islands are, they are really small, but I noticed on one of them an interesting garden (Celia Thaxter's Island Garden on Appledore Island). I also noticed that some of the small islands belong to New Hampshire while others belong to Maine. You really are on the edge there! Have a lovely weekend, hugs - Carola

  14. The photos of the Isles of Shoals are beautiful, especially with the calm seas. It's interesting how places are named, like Square Rock, even when they don't quite fit. Thanks for sharing your lovely boating adventure.

  16. As long as dogs are at a safe distance I like them! I was threatened a couple of times and hence the words "just wants to play" don´t work with me... PILs boxer and "my" German Shepherd knocked me over... Maybe since then I have trouble th...inking (KIDDING!!!!). Boxer (her name is Frida, like my late Grandma who raised us!!!) once sneaked at me from behind and put her tongue in my hand. I never expected a (dog´s) tongue being so hot!
As said, from a distance I like them and understand they protect and love "their people"! 🥰
Poor Frida always has a hard time and fails saying not hello to me. And as long as she does not jump... OK!
I had a very clever mouse. Does that count? She roamed free when I was home. And told me stories in my ear... I miss her still.

Water... LOVE!!!! 6 months only... Sadly my Perth-friends sold their boat when they moved. They let me steer it once (against my will. Slowest boat in the ocean... me steering.).
Hugs and yes, please share more of those pics!!!
