Hi everyone. It's the last Sunday in July, and I must not be paying attention because I really feel like it is only the middle of the month. My excuse is that I think the wet cooler weather we had in June made June feel like May so I am behind-grin. 😏 Glad I have the calendar finally squared away, but I still can't believe next weekend it will be August.
Today I have a page from a smaller summer journal I am making.
This journal is made on some colored cardstock, and you can see the green background paper on the far left. I covered the page with a section of some TH paper covered in flowers.
I then stamped the butterfly which is a very old stamp from (I think) Tattered Angels. If it's not from them it is from a company that makes/made mica spray ink. Sorry for the confusion but I bought this stamp set back in like 2004 or 2005, and I don't have the paper it came in any longer.
I painted the butterfly with some pink water color paint. It didn't really color it pink, but it did slightly change the paper (it was stamped on) color so it stood out a bit more. Then I used white and pink paint pens to add the dots to it.
To finish my page I added the pink paper flowers and stems. Those stems come from one those pop-up cards that you can buy. My daughter had given me this card a few years back for Mother-s Day, and I usually put it back up in the spring because the bouquet was so pretty. But after several years of storing it and then putting it up, the pop up wasn't popping very much. I decided instead to use it as some images for journaling. I finished by adding some washing tape along the right and left edges and stamping the TH quote.
I'm also linking up to Gillena's Sunday Smiles.
I've shown you lots of flowers in the last few weeks, but my veggies are doing well too. It won't be long until I have tomatoes.
And I have sweet peppers and some jalapenos growing too.
I noticed my first zucchini growing, and this past week I've been picking lots of green beans.
Finally, I spotted this hopper on a plant in my wild-flower garden.
And just like this grasshopper, I'm hopping off. I hope you have a super rest of your weekend and start to the new week.
Your garden is yielding wonderfully, Erika, the result of much hard work I’m sure, but now you are reaping the rewards. I think I might try raising jalapeños in a pot next year. The ones I get in the store are often so mild you would never know it’s supposed to be a hot pepper. All the best - David
ReplyDeleteHi David,
DeleteI couldn't resist to tell you that I grew some Thai bird chili peppers, and they so HOT. If you like some seeds, I'd be glad to send them to you. Email me at mvmaithai@gmail.com
A beautifully textural journal page and such a nice way to retain a special card.
ReplyDeleteYour veggies are looking good, our tomatoes are in full swing now and I've just frozen down another batch of pasta sauce. Courgettes in numbers but green beans slow this year.

A nice harvest! The page looks absolutely lovely.
ReplyDelete...collection beautiful moment and picked beautiful vegetables.
ReplyDeleteVegetables picked out from your own yard are fresher and tastier than shop bought products, especially tomatoes and capsicums. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThe veggies are looking great. It reminds me -- my first tomato on my only veggie plant (up north) is ready for picking. And I'm home. I told Rick to get it and if he thought he could save it in the fridge for a week to do that -- or else enjoy and take a picture for me! There will be others, but I've been waiting for it! First world problems.
ReplyDeleteGood morning I so miss not having a garden years past we grew and raised most all of our food and I canned froze or dehydrated it. I did try again this year to grow a few of those tiny tomatoes so far the chipmunks have not eaten most of them haha. I did grow some green beans in one of those big tubs but critter snipped off all the plants but two did get a handful to eat though-thinking the deer got those.
ReplyDeleteLoving your art, and I can't believe August is upon on us-I am sooo ready for fall this year though the heat and humidity are a bit much this month.
sorry for the long comment hugs
Lovely page and gorgeous veggies!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful journal page! Such an imaginative idea!!!
ReplyDeleteThere's so much growing in your garden right now, delicious!
Have a nice Sunday!Hugs Elke
Love your journal page! Your veggies are looking great as well. I've been harvesting beans and cherry tomatoes mostly. Picked my first cucumber and pepper yesterday.
ReplyDeleteNothing better than veggies picked in your own garden! I never did have good luck with sweet peppers. Jalapenos were a bit better and the first year I had a garden I had a bumper crop of Hungarian wax peppers. When we had the community garden plot several years ago, Bill's tomatoes were the envy of everyone else. he had no idea what he was doing, but it worked. They have to be grown in a polytunnel here. Anyway, enjoy the week ahead and the yummy veg!
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks fabulous! I don't think the beans Himself planted are doing well and I think something got at the zucchini. The rain is over. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the calendar page and that you used the pop-up card too so you can remember it.
ReplyDeleteThe garden seems to be doing really well!! How great that you are eating your garden goodies!! Have a great week Erika!!
Beans and tomato, nice
ReplyDeleteLuv the journal page
Thanks for linking to SundaySmiles
Much♡love
Those veggies are making my mouth water! I am doing an experiment with a couple of Honey's jalapenos he grew. I LOVELOVE the pickled penos in a jar and just finished one but thought it was wasteful to throw out the juice. So I sliced up Honey's penos and put them in the jar. Gonna give it a week or two and then try one of them. XOX
ReplyDeleteWOW!! This is wonderful. I love how you recycled your card, too. I am in awe of this page andthink it's great for Hale's theme at AJJ. BTW, I also have that same washi tape.
ReplyDeleteA lovely harvest from your garden.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Your veggies look great. I need to plant some bell peppers. Are they easy to grow? I need to go back and check out your flowers. My Zinnias and pentas are doing so well in hot, hot, hot in the Tampa Bay area.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection of vegetables in your garden, Erika!
ReplyDeleteAnd a very inspiring page for Halle's challenge at Art Journal Journey.

Your journal is stunning! I love that wonderful floral background and your elements in front of it to create a lovely garden scene with it! Great idea and lovely sentiment! Your garden looks yummy! We've pulled out several tomatoes so far and a large green pepper...so good! Enjoy and yes...where in the world did this month go?!
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous veggies - I wish i could still garden but am afraid not now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely page for Halle's theme of botanicals. Love the big flower on the right - it looks so textural and very three dimensional.
Your butterfly does look like one I had from Tattered angels but it was huge so I am sitting on the fence on that one.
A great page.
hugs, Neet xx
