Thursday Art

Hi everyone Happy Thursday. I hope your week is going well. When I was scheduling this post last week I accidentally forgot to fix the date, so it posted for  a short time before I noticed that mistake. I only mention that because if it looks familiar, that's why.

We're in the heat and humidity, so today is going to be an inside day with the AC running. I'm actually excited for an art day because I don't get them as much as I'd like lately between working, gardening, and other things in life. 😏

Today I have some art for a couple of challenges. I'll start with Halle's Botanical challenge at Art Journal Journey.

My page feels a little bit like fall, but I think that's because I chose the colors for the grass that I did. I really like this stamp, and grasses are really overlooked plants. Especially tall wild species that get pretty seed heads and even colors.

I started using  brown paint and a stencil to create the sun-like image. Then I stamped the grass ( from an older Paper Artsy set by Lin Brown) using brown, yellow and orange Versafine Clair ink. After that I colored the sky with some blue watercolor paint. I'm not sure who made the stamp set with the words I stamped along the bottom of the age, but they all came from 1 set. Then I used a bit of washi tape at the bottom, added the gold foil paper sun and also a couple of cloth clouds from an old set of sticker by Studio Calico.

Since I have so many types of media on my page, I am also linking up to Challenge #117 at Creative Artiste Mixed Media blog where there challenge is always Anything Goes.

Today I also have a tag for Tag Along and ATC's   too. This month Brenda chose the theme which is In the Garden or Anything Goes.

I made this tag by starting with this die cut piece of white paper. The woman's face is some Dina Wakely tissue paper.  The birds and the fern frond are punch outs from 49 and Market. I have lots of ferns in part of
My yard so I think they work for the garden end of the challenge. I stamped the words, inked the edge of my tag, and added a black border with a Sharpie. I finished by adding some little confetti ladybugs.

That's all for me today. I hope everyone has or is having a wonderful day.

  4. It's been hotter than Hades here, but overnight it rained. It cooled down so nicely,. I was even able to turn the window AC off while I'm on the computer.

Your grasses are lovely. I am truly impressed with how you colored them. Thanks for this amazing entry at AJJ using Halle's theme.

I really like your tag, too. It would work well for Mardi Gras, also. Stay cool today, dear.

  7. Love that tag!
I do like those suns you have, the foil stands out and the features are great on its face. Did you use a stencil for the sky, i ask because i am sure I can see rays from the sun? I do not recall that stamp by Lin but i like how you coloured it. if you were here you would see that the lack of water in some areas has turned the grassy areas in some places a sandy colour. Therefore your grasses are in keeping with the weather we have had this summer and what is forecast to still come.
    A great page Erika.
    hugs, Neet xx

  8. These are really beautiful. It is cold 51°F with an icy marine layer covering my town. I'm just about ready to turn the heater on.

  9. So much interest on your tag Erica, the masked lady draws the eye right in, then the birds, leaves and ladybirds bring in the garden elements. Perfect for our Tag-Along (and ATC's) challenge this month, many thanks for joining us.

  14. I think you're dreaming of Fall to get out of the heat, humidity, and blazing sun (like your sticker). Cold front coming through things are supposed to feel cooler.

  15. A beautiful piece of art, I can feel the comforting heat. It reminds me a bit of Saint-Exupéry´s Le Petit Prince.
And masked girl reminds me of a Christmas party in Castle Wolfenbüttel with my former-former company, theme: Casanova. He was dressed and told story of "his" life.
Some company event, LOL Our Muslim colleague of course complained (theme was known before!).
I have not seen one ladybug this year... Maybe if summer comes back... Have a wonderful Friday, hugs

  17. Love your journal page, Erika! The textures in the sky and the ombre watercolors look wonderful, and I'm a huge fan of the colorful grass! As for the tag, I like the simplicity and the pops of color. I should probably take an art day too since I've just been doing other stuff, sigh... Hope your weekend weather's better!

And before I forget--thank you for joining Creative Artiste's Anything Mixed Media Goes challenge with your art journal page! 😊 Anita xx
