Hi everyone. Happy new week. Today I'll be linking up to Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog T Day post so hello to everyone who joins in.
Last week life was busy with a couple of appointments. It was also the last time this summer for us to have a week at my mother-in-law's house. The assigned weeks between my husband and his 2 sisters end right before September 1, and due to having a couple of switches, we wrapped up our weeks this past Sunday.
Saturday my daughter came over to spend some time there. I think it was the nicest day all summer on the lake.
Then on Sunday my husband invited one of his cousins and his wife over, and in turn a few more cousins came along, so it ended up being like a big party. 😏
Some of us had our lunch down on the dock, and while we were eating, a young eagle flew across the lake and put on a show for us. He was trying to, with some success, catch himself a fish or two.
Based on what I found online, this eagle was probably about 3 1/2 years old. Here's where I found my information: Eagle Traits as They Age. Here is a chart they had on their website showing how eagles change until they get their adult plumage and beak coloration at around 5 years.
Since it was our week, I went over a couple of afternoons to swim and read on the dock while my husband was at work. And Friday, when my husband only works until noon due to his company's summer hours, we went over to the lake again and skipped our usual weekly boat trip.
After our Friday swim, it was dinner time, and we decided we'd stop for dinner at a newer restaurant. It's called PUB 28, and it's owned by the same family that owns and runs Pop's. This restaurant is a sit down place with a bar, and it has some other things on the menu besides what Pop's has.

Sounds like a good time was hard. Very cool on the bird shots, too.
ReplyDelete...the eagle is a wonderful sighting. I rarely if ever see one.
ReplyDeleteI like that eagle chart. Your drinks look yummy as does your meal -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect mix of lake life, wildlife show, and surprise party vibes! .That eagle sighting must’ve been amazing up close. And the bonus drinks because of a missing order? That’s a plot twist I can get behind.
ReplyDeleteCheers to a fun
Great shots of eagles! Awesome that you guys had a great time.
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy summer-pic!!!!! Thank you for the huge smile you gave me, I needed just that!
ReplyDeleteAnd to parties when they just come along!
And that eagle! My smile goes so high it hurts (nearly, haha, kidding).
"Definitive Plumage" - I´m all in.... I so look forward to a swim!
Your Hubby had a Henry on his glass! Secret beaming going on after all!!!
"... the brightest bulb in the pack" - I learn so much! My Brother always say "Not the brightest candle on the cake"...
At least she was honest and... we´re all but people....
Cute socks on the glasses. Baseball is kinda non-existing here...
Rum punch... I must try that!
Open all year round is good!
Heat. Pft. 14C / 32F. But then it´s only 06 a.m. - there is hope. Have a great day, hugs
I came over here today because I got the Followit email that you posted. But Followit is down, so I am just going to keep everyone's blog links in a collection on my desktop computer. Someone told me they may just be dropping the free service (thanks for no notice). ANYway, what a great family group you had and spectacular eagle sighting. Yum to those shrimp! But But...I can just hear your New England 'cents'ibility saying I am not paying more for the same lobster roll I can get at Pop's! LOL Happy New Week, xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful how wonderful you had it with all your relatives and by the water with the wonderful eagle!
ReplyDeleteA lovely restaurant visit with all the delicious drinks and food.
hugs Elke
Nice your family got together awesome to watch the eagle-I have not seen "our" eagle pair for some time now. there are new owners up on top of that hill and they have been doing a lot of clean up of brush to open up that area for light-it does look nice now but I don't think the eagle pair was too happy about it. hoping they will return this fall and winter that looks like a huge sandwich-I would have skipped the bread too
ReplyDeleteThat was a lot of food! I was laughing about the Red Sox glasses--Bill is up until the wee hours listening to the radio broadcasts of the games. Our daughter brought him a Red Sox totem pole when she visited once. They apparently need pitching this year and I'm told their best pitcher, with the fun name of Crochet, had a bad game last night. Anyway, I'm so glad you had such a lovely weekend! Enjoy the week ahead.
ReplyDeleteYou will not be surprised when I tell you that the eagles would have been the highlight for me. Bald Eagle has become quite common in southern Ontario, but even though I see them often, to see them pluck a fish from the water remains a special event. Thanks, Erika. All the best - David
ReplyDeleteWe have quite a few eagles here. They hang around the river.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see that eagle fishing. A rare treat to see that.
ReplyDeleteGreatn that family members just 'turn up'. It makes the occasion even more special. I always like it when people 'turn up' .
You've been writing about Pop's so often that I feel that I know it and are pleased you found a 'related' restaurant. A shame that the waitress forgot you. She must have been very stressed out not to pass on your order. But great that she confessed and you got an extra round of drinks. All is forgiven...
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Looks like you had a wonderful time with your family! How amazing to see the eagle in action too - perfect 😊. Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteGreat family photo. You always have such good times. The photos of the eagle are fabulous. The drinks look so refreshing. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteI knew those were the Red Sox! They're one of my route-for teams (I have about four.) Fabulous eagle sighting. They are so amazing. And it looks like the weekend was just loads of fun!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see the eagle so close! I enjoy these photos, and it was also interesting to see the picture how they mature. We have bald eagles in our area, but I have yet to see them. You had such a lovely time at your MIL's house. That looks like a lot of food - I never understand why some restaurants provide such huge portions - and I bet it was delicious. I love shrimp. Happy T day! - Carola
ReplyDeleteThank you for the eagle education. I didn't know about the different looks of their plumage as compared to age. Your drinks look refreshing. It was nice of her to comp you some drinks for her mistake. I was thinking they might do something like not charge you for the meal! :) Heat, we had two days of 102 here. But then it rained and cooled off a bit. Happy T Day.
ReplyDeleteI got excited when you said Pub 23 and immediately went to look online to see pictures. Teague and I will be headed up that way again and I thought we might be able to try the restaurant since last year Pop was closed because it was the first day of school. But from the pictures, it looks like all they have are those high pub tables. 😿I think there's a break from the heat coming on Friday. Until then, Happy T Day and stay cool.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I got so excited about Pop's other restaurant, I forgot to say the eagle shots are very exciting.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such a wonderful way to spend your Summer days! I wish I could have a lake place near me! Must be wonderful to have!
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous that you had visitors this weekend when the eagle called to put on a show for you all. Sounds as if you have had a lovely time over there swimming whilst hubby looked after the place.
ReplyDeleteNice to find Pops Junior restaurant and lovely to have some good food, even if you had to wait a while.
Good things come to he who waits,
Hugs, Neet xx
