Hi everyone. Happy Friday. Today I'm posting to link up to Nicole's Friday Face Off and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break.
It's been another fairly quiet week for me. The hubby is still in recuperating mode with his back, but he's definitely improving- actually quite a lot. 😏 We've had some snow and some cold weather this past week too. And there's some really cold weather coming this weekend and then a lot more snow coming this weekend also. Or so the weather folks say. Is it February yet?
For my faces this week I have a couple of things to share. First here's the cover of a homemade journal that I found. For some reason I made it and put it away in a drawer, and I recently rediscovered it while looking for something totally different. I shared this photo in my post yesterday.
Here's a new journal page that I made in a different (but store bought) journal that I'll be linking up to my
"What's Up?" challenge at
Art Journal Journey. It also has a face on it.
The words are hard to read since I used black letters for them, but they say,"If...Only".
I've also done a bit of knitting, mostly last weekend while I watched some football playoffs with my husband.
It looks like there's a lot of solid black up near my needles, but actually there are various dark colors that just don't show up. If I lighten up the photo more you can just barely see that. I think when I get past this area and add more blue and white you'll be able to tell better. At least I hope so.
With the brutal cold coming on Saturday (they say it will feel like -20 degrees F/ -29 degrees C) and then some predicted snow Sunday into Monday, I think there will be a lot of knitting getting done. ❤
To wrap up this post, I was wondering if anyone (in the northern hemisphere) had some good views of this week's Northern Lights. I went out to look for them, and with my phone I could just make out some color. But I did get some fun night sky photos so I'll end this post with those.
At first, it was too cloudy for any sky phenomena.
I don't have a very clear northern view, but you can just make out some faint pink on the left.
This (above) photo is just interesting because the horizon looks almost like daylight, but you can see the stars on the top of it.
And then (below) a little later just the stars.
And finally, the view when I left the deck light on. You can make out just a tad bit of snow in the trees.
Have a super Friday and start to your weekend. I hope it's not too cold or if you are in the south of the planet not too hot. And that you have some good weather too! 😉
I've had a catch up here. Love the flower pages and what a cool journal cover, glad you found it. That's a very flattering photo of her. Loving your night time photos too. Hope you two can stay warm and occupied for the better part of the next week. I'm actually beginning to think in terms of, if I lose internet, what can I save now to my computer that I may want to look at online? Best wishes to survive Fern! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI particularly love that last photo. Your sweater is coming along splendidly--with the cold coming your way, it'll be the perfect project to work on. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like every time the Northern Lights are visible in southern Ontario we either have cloud, or they are visible at 2 in the morning and I know that I will never get back to sleep. I really do have to make the effort! All the best - David
ReplyDeleteI love those night photos, esp. the last few ones.. -29C..gosh, that's COLD. Stay warm!
ReplyDelete...that beautiful sweater will be wonderful this winter. Stay warm and well.
ReplyDeleteWow! We are in the Dry Season but this year so far, getting some terrific rain spells, and yes it is still hot hot hot
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday
Thanks for libking to AFFF
🎇much love
Erika, no northern lights sighting here, but then I also didn’t make the effort you did to check😏Your sky shots were interesting and we have way to much city light here to get anything like them. Thanks for the comment on my recent snow posts and we’re ready for more as well. Patrick had a ham radio sinter field day this weekend, perfect timing.
ReplyDeleteIt is always interesting to find art that you made and put away, forgotten.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see the Northern Lights, although a number of people here in Alabama have taken photos of them.
"If only".. I´ll never wear make-up again. I did that once and my car didn´t start - a sign ;-)
ReplyDeleteLuckily I didn´t buy the make up. It was a pressie my Brother got as they mistook his name for "Helga" - his name ends with an "e" - a Nordic male name.
She would be pretty without, but reckon that was the norm back then.
-29C??? OMG. You´ll have to knit very fast! Nah here in the city we saw no lights - too much light-pollution...
I´m wishing you a very happy Friday, too - here but -6C / 21 F, so I don´t complain and send over warm hugs...
That sweater is drop-dead gorgeous. And it's going to be really nice holding it on your lap as you knit through the vortex. Alas, too "city" and too clouody to see the lights!
ReplyDeleteHi Erika. I did the same thing this week. Found a piece of art I put away and then found it. It is amazing. That background brings out the face and especially her eyes so well. Your journal page reminds me of something out of the 1950's. Her face really dose have the expression of, "What if." Of course the colors are fabulous. I'm so impressed with your knitting. I like the black and brown. It sets off the blue. Be safe in this upcoming storm. Thank you for joining FFO and stay warm this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour "if only" art perfectly captures what it feels like to daydream!
ReplyDeleteLovely faces! I didn't see the Northern lights from Toronto.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art pages! So fun and the night sky is so pretty! your knitting is amazing. :) Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful page!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are fascinating, and you've continued knitting your sweater—the pattern and color look lovely!
No, I didn't take any photos of the Northern Lights because it was too freezing cold that night!
Have a wonderful weekend and take care in this weather!
Hugs, Elke
Lovely night photos and awesome sweater ~ great needlework ~ hugs
ReplyDeleteOh I am so jealous of your night sky ... we live close to city lights and we can't really see many stars ... occasionally the North Star, but that is about it. As for the Northern lights, I haven't seen them here, but I have a friend who lives more in the country and she has sent me wonderful pictures of them. As for your art ... wonderful, wonderful. Your "What's Up?" picture is awesome ... a beautiful lady indeed. And once again, I admire your knitting and am jealous of that too .... Hmmmm, I think I need to start working on things so I don't have to be jealous, right? Love it all, Erika ... and we are getting the same cold weather here (Midwest) that you are getting out east ....Brrrrrrrr. Stay warm ...

Beautiful photos. Continued healing for your hubby. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteThe sweater already looks fantastic, Erika. I really like the pattern. Maybe one day - probably when I will have closed the shop (which I don't plan to do any time soon) - I will knit one for myself as well (or for my daughter, she's so much thinner).
ReplyDeleteThe Northern Lights were visible here in Northern California, but unfortunately not by our eyes. However, my daughter sent us a few photos from Germany where she was able to see them from her balcony.
I have read about the extreme cold that is heading your way. I hope it won't be too bad.
I love your sky pictures. I have way too many lights around me to be able to pick up too many strs like you did.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pages. Your sweater is gorgeous and this weekend will be the perfect weather for knitting. We're up pretty high and have too many trees to be able to see the Aurora. That and having to get up at 1 am to go out in the cold to see them. I'm happy you got some incredible sky pictures and I can see the pink/purple of the lights. Stay safe and warm this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe sky shots are very nice. Love that your hubby is improving. Here's to more of that goodness his way.
ReplyDeleteLovely all around, Erika! Your sky photos are so different, except it's the same scene. Such fun. Stay warm and safe this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe queen page looks like something Andy Warhol would of done.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Especially the one with the deck lights on.
ReplyDeleteKate (in the UK) saw the Northern Lights and has some photos on her blog.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Lisca
I love how cozy your post feels; the mix of journaling, knitting, and night sky photos really paints a full picture of your week. That knitting project sounds like the perfect companion for such cold weather.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos Erika! Love the nighttime ones and enjoyed all the other images too. Not being a knitter but loving anything knitted, I really admired yours.
ReplyDeleteHi Erika! I like both of your face collages, but I'm really impressed with your knitting. That sweater is gorgeous, with your choice of colors for that classic pattern. That's a craft that I've never picked up. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThe cover is fantastic. And yes... we're thinking about it every day, so I understand the title well. If...
ReplyDeleteI admired your knitting extensively. Wow... It takes a lot of energy to knit such a difficult pattern. Stay warm and well.
Lovely cover on your journal, Erika.
ReplyDeleteYour sweater already looks fabulous!

Mia
