It is unbelievable to see this and remember how they fought for each meter - and so many soldiers were killed. It is utterly senseless. One of the best and most impressive books I have ever read about WWI is Erich Maria Remarque"s "All Quiet on the Western Front" - still a must-read for our high school students.Carola Bartzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05536486322412234854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1034532151955863306.post-31330791584750724132020-11-11T18:43:44.318-05:002020-11-11T18:43:44.318-05:00I like the owl here and the colors. Poppies grew in abundance in Flanders Field where battles took place and, sadly, so many lives were lost. Apparently, a Canadian surgeon John McCrae wrote about it in his poem. It's a beautiful flower.

I love the colour and design of your page today. :)Serena Lewishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17789734075055678964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1034532151955863306.post-18606446933986388382020-11-11T12:37:13.478-05:002020-11-11T12:37:13.478-05:00as I am also a birder I love all owls. A lot of them were veterans so when they negotiated their contract, they got the Veterans Day holiday and the day after Thanksgiving. They gave up our state holiday in April, Patriots Day. Whatever bennies the Teamsters got, so did us office workers. Great bennies!

Wonderful owl page with a different color scheme. I think the pink and rust really make the owl stand out.
