It Won't Lay Flat

Hi everyone. It's a new day, Wednesday already, and I thought I would share some pages from my drawing journal with you just to switch it up a little bit.
I think I mentioned before how my book will not lay flat. It's so bad at this point that I have taken to cutting pieces of graph paper to fit the page and drawing on them out of the journal. Then I tape them into the book.
Good thing it is December and I only have a few more weeks to go in this book. I'm hoping once the month is over I can pile some heavy books on top of this for a month or so to flatten it out a bit.
But then, maybe it won't.

This journal is my warm up  and I don't spend a lot of time on my sketches. Maybe that explains why when I looked at the sketch on the bottom left (below) in this photo, I couldn't tell what it was. I learn what works and what doesn't. It's all the learning curve.
And don't laugh too hard, ok?
It's me with a GIANT eye in a weird spot on my face. :) Oh my.
Hope everyone is having or has a good day!

  2. Your sketchbook is fun. Too bad about the curling. Hopefully, the pile of heavy books will help. Have a good day!

  3. I'm still not sure how folks do these art journals and altered books. I always had trouble enough getting standard scrap books and photo albums to lie flat, but it sounds like you have a system that works without the pages having to be flat.

I like the way you've designed these pages. It seems to me that pages like this will bring back memories more than just a text journal.

  6. You put my calendar to shame, dear. I wish I had your drawing talent. I like the hair cut day. It made me laugh. You look like an Egyptian queen. I think you have a LOT to be proud of accomplishing this year, and this art calendar/journal is fabulous.

I was surprised. Sunset here is about 5:20 pm. It didn't get dark until almost 6 pm when I was in MO. last week.

  8. Beautiful pages! I love your entries and drawings - perfect 😁. It will be great to look back at all the memories you made this year using this journal too, what fun! Wow, I can't believe it's 6 months since your surgery either 😁. My journals are quite bulky to begin with and I weigh them down with books to flatten them too and they do eventually, it takes a bit of time ...lol 😉. Wishing you a very Happy December! J 😊
