In Flight

Hi everyone.

I am going to do some Thanksgiving baking today.  I made my pie crusts yesterday and today it is time to make the pies. I also made some cranberry sauce and some dinner rolls yesterday. Even though I am not having a big crowd because of Covid, the 3 of us (husband, me and daughter) can still celebrate with a nice meal and the traditional fixings. The exciting parts  for me are that I actually have time this year to do some of these fun kitchen activities, and also that there should be  leftovers too.

Today I have a journal page for both Wendy's bird challenge at Art Journal Journey   and for day 25 of  Art Everyday Month

I had a sheet of watercolor paper that had some leftover green paint smeared on it. Then I added the printed tissue paper. Once the matte medium dried,  I did a bit of stamping in purple. The 2 large birds were stamped and colored and then fussy cut out of some white paper before I glued them onto my page. I had an old sheet of scrapbooking paper that was designed with old letters, so I cut a few out and arranged them on my page. Lastly, I stamped the flying birds and also the quote on those letters.

And that is my art for today.
Hope your day is going  and continues to go well!
Thanks for visiting!

  1. What a gorgeous page, love it very much. And baking sounds great. I would love to bake a cake or scones, but as nobody comes I would eat it all alone, so I'm just dreaming about it. Have a great day, stay safe. Hugs, Valerie

  3. The birds remind me of tasks that need to be done and the number the order. Perfect for today making the sides for Thanksgiving dinner. Enjoy your kitchen day and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  6. You certainly put a LOT into this lovely journal page, Erika. I am impressed and really like the collage feel it gives. Thanks for another wonderful entry at Art Journal Journey using Wendy's theme.

I'm doing prep work today. I'll be making French Toast Casserole which will sit overnight in the fridge. I'm also hoping to make a pie, but my crusts are never up to par. I even got some whipping cream and if I'm lucky, I won't make butter.

It's always just the two of us so I usually go all out and make everything for us-we love the left overs too. this year I decided on grilling a Butterball breast tenderloin instead of a whole turkey. made the cranberry sauce already too and today making the pies-Happy Thanksgiving Kathy

  12. Love all the details on your page, Erika, and there are soooo many of them. Strong and encouraging words and your placement of them is very well done. Great background too.

Happy Thanksgiving. I am impressed with your baking! I am doing an Edwards frozen lemon pie as I lake the motivation to bake. Hubby did a fried turkey and I am doing a traditional dressing and a whole30 dressing made with butternut squash, sausage and apples - should be very interesting!

    Loved your page!
