The Cow

Hi everyone. Happy new week. Chilly days have come my way, and  this week looks like it is going stay on the cooler side. Time to put  my flannel sheets on my bed I guess.

Today I have a short post for you as I will be back for T Day  later today. Since I am participating in Art Everyday Month, I thought I would share one of my painting projects for my Day 16.

You might remember the wooden cow I brought home when I cleaned out my classroom last May. This cow was from a student's project, but she never took it home. Since she was already graduated, that made the cow mine.

This is how she looked when I brought her home.

I had some left over paint from my fence painting project, so on one of our warm days last week, I painted the trim around my screen porch door and then remembered I wanted to paint this cow with some exterior paint, as I am guessing the black paint is probably not for the outside.
. She is cut from plywood so my guess is if I didn't paint her but put her out in the elements she might start to decay pretty fast.
OK, so now I have a white cow.

At some point, probably next spring, I plan on turning her into a holstein, with black patches. And she'll get some facial features too. I'll give her a coat of some waterproof protectant too. Then she will be my newest yard decor.
She needs a name.
Any ideas?

Happy Monday to you.

  4. That cow, by your student is really well done. I like the black cow and the white but combining the colours will be great to see.

  5. The cow will make a fun yard decoration. I think she needs to have her features and black spots before her name can be revealed.

  8. Oh I'm LOVING this, Erika. It's going to be a great addition to your outdoor art, which of course, I LOVE. All that comes to mind is Bossy Bessy, but you might check out Serena's visit to the animal farm. The farm had some clever names. BTW, I like your new blog banner, too.

  11. I can't wait to see how this beauty turns out.

I'm terrible for thinking up names...maybe when it gets closer to completion, a name may come to me but you will probably have a name already picked by then. lol

    Have a lovely day/evening!
