Today for Nicole's Friday Face Off I have some photos. Here are some handsome and fascinating faces I saw at the deCordova Sculpture Gardens when I visited with my friend last week.
The eyes in this next piece really drew me in. This sculpture tells so many different stories (to me) I'm glad I didn't read the blurb about it. Is he sad, contemplating something, just watching the world pass him by, or maybe even something else?
This next statue was named Humming.
I didn't expect the pony tail.
Or maybe you prefer abstract faces.
Or very traditional looking sculpture faces.
Or maybe children at play in a glass structure are more your thing. (I didn't get the meaning of the glass structure piece, but the kids were cute.)

ReplyDeleteWe have also been in this sculpture park and maybe will return in cooler weather. Outdoor sculpture gardens are far more interesting than being indoors in a museum.

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing collection of interesting faces. I'm drawn to the "ponytail" one. I really like what you show us of these gardens, it looks like a wonderful place to visit.
ReplyDeleteEach piece is interesting and has appeal. As for the second face laying on the ground, I think he is laying there wondering what happened to the rest of him ... poor soul. I love reading my own stories into someone else's art because it always frustrates me not being able to know what the artist was thinking while he created it. Great face post, Erika ...

Fabulous photos I think I prefer the traditional ones, not sure I like the one with the children behind the glass, but it makes you think about protecting our youngsters.
