Happy Friday

Hi everyone. I hope your week has been going well. My week has been very busy again, but not with anything too wildly exciting. ๐Ÿ˜ We also had some high heat and humidity, the first of the year, and the toughest thing is we hadn't fully done the change over from winter to summer (putting up the storm windows, putting AC's in place and other such tasks) because none of the heat up has been gradual. Monday morning it was only 45 degrees F/7.2 degrees C  and by yesterday afternoon it was 92 degrees F/ 33.3 degrees C. It certainly makes you jump to it and get summer ready when it gets so hot. ๐Ÿ‘

It's Friday so it's time for Nicole's Friday Face Off and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break. Since I'm sharing a piece of art I'm also linking it up to Matilde's People challenge at Art Journal Journey. There's quite a few faces on this journal page.

I used a lot of scraps on my work table to make this page. Then for the people, I added 3 TH people that are sitting on some of the papers  used. The honeycomb with the bees as well as the bird and leaf images  are printed on tissue paper and I used watercolor paints to color them. The quotes (they're actually 2 that I put together) came from a set of clear stamps that came with a magazine  that I'd found marked down last year. The bees are stickers, and I finished the page with a light splatter of blue watercolor paint.

Some of my  irises are blooming. They're one of my favorite flowers so it's exciting to see them.

I hope everyone has a wonderful start to your weekend.

  6. Wasn't the 90 degree temp awesome? I took a page out of your lunch book. Your iris are so pretty. Hopefully storms rolling through won't be too bad today

  7. The exotic shape of the iris flowers makes other flowers look ordinary. Their colours only add to the impressive quality that makes the iris flowers stand out.

  17. Oh wow. I love your latest journal entry. You used a LOT of those TH paper dolls. I love how you captured the moment and created this remarkable entry. This is a great entry for Matilde's theme at AJJ.

You have some stunning irises. Mine are long gone and waiting for next year to arrive.

  18. Dear Erika,
what a dramatic weather change you've experienced – from jacket-and-boots to tank-top-and-sandals in just a blink! ๐Ÿ˜… We had a similar shift here in Austria – although perhaps a touch less extreme. One day I was still in boots, the next I was hunting for my sunhat…

Your journal page is absolutely delightful – a miniature artwork full of texture, movement, and buzzing energy ๐Ÿ. I especially love how the hexagons and collaged layers come together so harmoniously.

And then – those irises! ๐Ÿ’œ The close-up of the very first bloom is truly fascinating. It almost looks like the flower is playfully sticking out its tongue – nature's little surprise, beautifully captured!

Sending sunny greetings and best wishes from across the Atlantic,
    Traude

  20. Oh I love this art. The flowers are so beautiful. Wow! I would love to have a 90° day. It is still so cold. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a nice day.

  21. You created a beautiful journla page, Erika. Thankfully so far we only had a couple days with over 90 F - at the moment we're in the mid 70s and I wish it would stay like that. Our morning s and evenings are always cool. I'm not a big friend of Iris, but yours are very beautiful. Your close-up photos really show their beauty. I hope you have a lovely weekend as well. Hugs - Carola

  22. Gorgeous colors on those irises, they are so pretty! And I like your page, the composition using the text blocks and seating the Tim Peeps is very cool. So sorry about the heat "stroke" or should I say "spike"! That would be like me having to wear woolens all day long, no way. Hope you got cooled off! XOX

  23. Such an interesting journal page. I like how you have used newsprint columns like that and put the two males on them - great idea.
Love your play on words - very clever of you to do that with your word stamps. So much of interest in this page and I like the main colour of the background once again in your ledger journal. I don't think you mentioned the cord down the left hand side but that is so effective - well done on something different.
Yes, Iris are lovely flowers and especially when you have them in so many colours. I only have yellow and blue.
Take care, have a good week
    Hugs, Neet xx

  24. Erika, your irises are absolutely beautiful! I had a wonderful time admiring all your photos. And the masterpiece you created for Matilde’s people theme is amazing and incredibly creative. I particularly love your Bee theme and clever sentiment! I hope things are getting back to normal where you live - that sudden change in temperature must have been quite a shock, and it happened so quickly. I hope you are staying cool now! Sending hugs, Sharon
