Hi everyone. Happy July to you.
A new month means it's time for a new challenge at Art Journal Journey. Before I get to that let me thank Matilde to for hosting last month. And while I'm at it, let me once again thank everyone who joined in to Matilde's people challenge. It was definitely a fun month for art journaling.
This month I and my co-admins want to welcome back our creative friend Halle who you may know from her blog Halle's Hobbies. This month Halle's challenge is perfect for July and a favorite topic of mine: Botanicals.
For my first July journal page I started by inking the background with a grey ink. Then I used a stencil and stenciled with paint twice. The first time I used white paint, and then I stenciled again in the bright yellow. You can even see some flower botanicals in the stenciled area if you look carefully.
I then used a bit of tissue paper with the rosemary on it. Once that dried I colored it with some watercolor paints. Then I added a punched out 49 and Market vine wreath. To finish I added a fussy cut owl, the stamped word daydreams and finally a few green half pearls.
Please don't forget that Art Journal Journey is a place to link your art journaling, but not cards, tags, ATC's, etc. Not everyone on the admin. has Facebook, Instagram or other social media sites, so we may not be able to comment if you link through one of those websites.
I think Botanicals is a great theme for all of us in the summer season, and I'm excited to see what creative ways people use them in their art.
This is so beautiful and a bit unlike you, Erika. You restrained you9rself and this was a stunning entry. The yellow was a great pop of color and really pulled everything together, This is a fabulous first entry for Halle's theme at AJJ.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Botanicals is a great theme, but I am so jealous that you are celebrating summer ggrr. I had to wear a thick woollen jumper today.
ReplyDeleteI like the simplicity of this one...the owl is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteBotanicals is a wonderful theme. Just think how flowers have been used in still life throughout the ages and you will see that their appeal is universal. All the best - David
ReplyDelete...I wish you a Jubilant July and a Happy 4th.

What a lovely page for this theme Erika! I'm in love with that bright green background and texture! The wreath with the flower inside is very cool! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThe perfect topic for you. I love the page you have created in your journal. The lime green is the perfect background for this theme to begin with and I do like how you have used a magnifying glass as the focal point to show off your botanicals.
ReplyDeleteI like this simplistic approach to your page and the addition of the little pearls is the ideal finish.
Hugs, Neet xx
