A Day at the Beach

Hi everyone. Happy mid-week to you. Today I have a short post as I want to share another page for Chris' challenge at Art Journal Journey. You probably know by now that her theme is Hot August (Nights and Days). What better way to cool off than hitting the beach, especially if there's a cool sea breeze.

My page started by me stamping the playful style sand dollar image several times, and then outlining the page.  The sandals are die cuts (from an old Spellbinders set), that I decorated with some white spots, and the starfish is a double die (from a Sizzix oldie) that I layered the holey white on top of the solid white. I then went to splatter my page with a bit of blue paint (for the water of course), and by mistake I picked up a brush that I hadn't cleaned the previous green paint off of very well. Oh well, it works.

The quote is an oldie from a Inkadinko stamp set, and I was thrilled I had a marker that matched the background paper so well.  Once I attached the quote my page was complete.

That's all for me today. I'm off to the lake for my 7 AM shift, and after today I only have 3 mornings of boat ramp work left. Where is summer going to?

  2. Erika, this is such a fun page! Love the dimensional look from the die-cuts that's just enough. The green and blue water works pretty well with the background color too--overall, I'm in love. Gonna try out a similar umbrella-themed one for our weather here, lol... 😊 Anita xx

  4. My daughter lives just a few miles form the beach on the East coast. A few years ago she was coming to the West coast to visit me. I told her to bring warm clothes and old tennis shoes for the beach. She told me she doesn't have hold tennis shoes. I asked, "what do you wear to the beach?" She "I wear flip flops, what else?" We laughed so hard at the differences of the beaches. I wrote all of that to say, your art reminds me of my daughter.

  7. When my family were looking for a new country to settle in during the 1919-25 era, they might have ended up in the first country to offer visas. Thank goodness it was Australia, if for no other reason that our lives focused on beaches for a third of every year.

  8. I have been longing for a day at the beach for a couple of weeks now. Thanks for providing me with one via your journal page.
The sand dollars remind me of the day I found lots at Coronado Beach, what a lovely day that was. I wear flip flops each day when i have a shower, fear of slipping.but I used to wear nothing else all summer when i was a bit younger. So your page has lots of memories for me and is a lovely page - I can almost smell the ozone.
    Hugs, Neet xx

And you inspire me a lot to share also on my vlog some of the journals I am working on. Maybe I can share my Museum journal one time :)

  12. A day at the beach is always a good idea. Your page looks great and I love the greenish-blue color. It's so hot here, I could do with a day at the beach, especially since I know that it's always way cooler at our coast.

  17. That's a good question. Where did the summer go? Whoosh. Today so cold we almost put the heat on. We did have the heat on in car and one of the stores we hit tonight, also had their heat on. I LOVE IT. Bring on the Autumnal Fun 🎃
