Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday. It is time once again for a new challenge at Try It on Tuesday.
Thank you Helen N for being our guest designer for our last challenge. And thank you everyone who joined in. There were lots of fun summer themed pieces of art.
Our newest challenge for the next 2 weeks is GOING ROUND IN CIRCLES.
I made a page in my summer themed journal for this challenge, and what's more circular than a beach ball that has colored circles? (Well it's really spherical but on paper it makes a circle.)
I stamped these Hero Arts images on white paper, used markers and Posca paint pens to color them in. Then I used an old circular paper punch to punch them out, and I added them to my page. This journal's pages are made from some colored cardstock, so that explains the green background. I also used a black Sharpie to outline the beach balls so they'd have a little more pop off the paper.
I finished by stamping this quote several times. This quote comes from a really old clear set of stamps, one of the first clear sets I ever bought, and the label wrapper is missing, so I can't even guess who made it. I finished off by adding a strip of washi tape along the right hand side to smooth out the edge of the partial beach ball that is there.
As always, this challenge runs for the next 2 weeks, and if you need some circle ideas, check out the ways all the designers used that shape in their pieces. Don't forget, we accept all art forms at Try It on Tuesday too.
Since beach balls are also something you think about in summer, I'll be linking my journal page up to Chris' Hot August (Nights and Days) at Art Journal Journey. Please remember we only accept art journaling (in any form) at that challenge.
I hope you like circles as much as I do, and that you'll join us at Try It on Tuesday for our latest challenge.
I love this idea for a challenge. Circles are so versatile, and your beach ball journal page is a perfect example of that. It's funny how something as simple as punching out a shape can be so effective. The way you made the beach balls pop off the page with the Sharpie is a great touch.
