Hi everyone. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you.
I don't really celebrate this day as a holiday, as I'm not in any way Irish, nor is my husband, but I do like to do a little something for the day.
I am ready for some more green in the world, which of course is the color of St. Patrick's Day. This day also seems to be the one where the change to spring really begins here in New Hampshire, so bring on St. Patrick's day if for no reason other than that.
And of course I love my Irish and Irish descendant friends too.
My page today started with some green watercolor paint. I stamped the shamrocks on the 2 opposite corners. Then I added the scraps of green lined paper and stamped the light post as well as the postmark.
The lady, the Irish Exposition image, the horse as well as my quote are paper images, although I did frame out the Irish Exposition with a chipboard window frame. And I made the 2 silver shamrocks with a texture plate die cut from TH. Finally I added a bit of paper tape and some green ribbon as well as some mini-foam shamrocks to complete the page.
I am linking my page up to River of Creativity Blog, where the theme is Anything Goes, optional squares. The window on my page has 2 square openings and my quote is cut to a square, and although not squares, there are rectangles on the gridded paper pieces. And since St. Patrick's Day is a passage of spring, I am also linking up to Valerie's Spring challenge at Art Journal Journey. And I've hit the Irish Sweepstakes, because I am linking up also to Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge; this is Challenge #80 with a theme of anything goes.
We're having a warm up this week, and last weekend's snow is gone. Now I'm just waiting for the rest of winter's remains to melt and things to start to green up a bit. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be warm enough that hopefully we'll lose that, or most of it anyhow, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for no more snow. I even went out and bought some lettuce, kale and spinach seeds the other day, so hopefully within a week or two I can put my cold-frame out in my garden and start some fresh greens.
And I'll end my post with these pictures of 2 happy dogs frolicking in the ocean on a sunny day beach walk.

ReplyDeleteI think our and your spring is alike at this moment, as we have also some snow still, but its sunny and there is spring in the air.
I'm hoping that the things turn better in the roaring areas of the world...

ReplyDeleteLike you we don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Erika, and I always wonder how an obscure saint, from a small country, came to be celebrated the world over. I always avoid yellow snow and I think I will equally eschew green beer! Hugs, David

St. Patrick's Day is one of those holidays we adopted even though we have no family connection. We try to wear green and eat green muffins... a little something to be in the spirit.

You truly it the trifecta today. I love how you tied everything to the shamrocks and the window frame you used to capture the Exposition. A lovely, lovely entry for Valerie's theme at Art Journal Journey, too.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your cold frame. I hope you get some lettuce and kale. I grew kale a few years ago, but you have to pick it when it is very young, or it turns bitter. The dogs look like they were having fun.

I have no connection to Ireland either but my other half's family is a mix of irish and Scottish but have always tended to stay in touch mostly with the Irish side (his mothers). Shows who wore the trousers there. Or is it just a woman thing?

Having an Irish background from my Grannies side I understand the importance of Saint Patricks day, they really do know how to celebrate and Dublin especially is a fabulous City. Love your journal rendition, the window is fabulous, like a tradition pub window panel. There be plenty luck of the Irish with all those four leaf clovers..
