More Red Art

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. The weekend is almost here. There's nothing  exciting on my agenda ahead, but it's always nice to have the hubby  home from  work.

Today I am linking up to Nicole's Friday Face Off  and also to Gillena's Friday Art Lunch Break
I am also linking up to Art Journal Journey where this month's challenge theme is Seeing Red.

My page had a few sprays of red ink on it before I even started creating on it (as it's in a bound album), and I decided rather than covering up the spray with acrylic paint, I would use bright blue and yellow watercolors to finish off my background. That way  the red splatter would remain.

I really wanted to make a page about a red dress. Since I couldn't find a red dress in the old fashion magazine I've been cutting images from, I went with this lady in black and white. I decided to paint her lips and the dark colored bow she had on.

The buttons are an ancient Martha Stewart paper punch I have. When I filled my new cabinet last month I finally had a place to put the few paper punches I owned. (Before I moved them they were in a bin on top of a cabinet, and I never used them as it was too much of a pain to get them down.) I don't own a lot of hand held paper punches, but this button one is definitely one of my favorites.

I used the quote "Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful", and I wanted to write in: just wear something red. I couldn't figure out where to put it though,  so I'll mention it here.

I also want to share a tag for Pinky's Love/Hearts challenge over at Tag Tuesday.

My background is red polka dot tissue paper and red ink. I used some die cut hearts as well as some other bits of paper ephemera to finish off my tag.

I'm trying keeping today's post short, so let me finish by saying thanks for your visit. Have a great start to your weekend.

Both pieces are awesome, Erika. I love the attitude of the black and white lady and the sentiment. Have a fun weekend!

Good words! Life cannot be perfect, that would be as boring as what Elmo from Sesame Street wished for - Christmas every day ;-)

What a very cool collage!!! Perfect.
Mind you. Would you sign it and allow me to print to hang it in our condo-wall?
It´s just so full of joy and promise and... it makes me smile so big.

Gurri sure says hi to your polka dots - her image! (She is red with white dots).

To a LOVEly weekend, hugs!

What a fun, fun entry. Her lips are out of this world. I am not a fan of Martha, but I admit her punches are the best around. I own three, if that tells you anything (BTW, I only have 7 punches). I'd love to own that button punch. I thought they were real buttons until I read your description. Thanks for another inspiring entry using your theme at AJJ, dear.

That tag is awesome. I like the tissue and how you used the paper dolls to offset the three hearts.

Too funny that we both had red lips in mInd! Great minds think alike! Love both of your lovely, red pieces, and thanks so much for linking to Pinky's challenge. I am home for the weekend, and trying to get my place tidied up before I come home in March! Hugs, Valerie
