Time for a New Challenge at TIOT

Hi everyone. It's Tuesday and time for another new challenge at Try It On Tuesday. Before I move on let me thank everyone who joined our Oh So Sweet challenge, and I also want to thank Ester for being our guest designer. ❤

For our new challenge, we're taking you out into the woods, because our challenge is Deep In The Forest.

I live in a wooded area, and lately there has been lots of hooting going on in the evening, (I think the barred owls that live in my area have a nest near the house.)  I decided I wanted to make my deep in the forest page about owls, and since they tend to be nocturnal, I wanted to make a night page.

The night part was a bit of an issue for me, because if you've ever tried painting night, you have to use dark colors that still stand out with some details. I decided to use a dark purple for the sky, black for the branches of the forest trees and then some platinum paint to give the purple sky more depth. I don't like the branch across the full moon, but I decided to keep it so it would be more forest like.

The owl and the quotes are from a stamp set by Visible Images that I've had for quite some time. The owl is stamped, colored and fussy cut and the quotes are stamped on with white pigment ink.

You have 2 weeks to join our challenge at TIOT, and we'll accept any type of art. And if you are looking for some other ideas besides owls, be sure to check out the other design teams pieces.

I hope you're inspired by the forest and will join us at TIOT. I'm looking forward to seeing all the different ways of being/portraying Deep in the Forest

  1. ...I'm not a night owl, but I'd love to see an owl.

  6. Dark purple for night sky is a great idea. I am still trying to figure out what the golden colour behind owl is.

  7. This is so YOU. I love it. I love that it's moody and dark. Really wonderful with the white sentiment.

  8. What a fantastic challenge! Your "Deep in the Forest" page is absolutely mesmerizing, especially with the owl theme. The dark purple sky and the moonlit branches create such a magical, mysterious atmosphere that truly evokes the feeling of a nocturnal forest. I love how you captured the essence of the forest while still making the owl the focal point—it’s the perfect tribute to the quiet beauty of nature. I can’t wait to see how others interpret this theme! Thanks for sharing this inspiration, and I’m looking forward to joining the challenge. Be sure to check out my new post too.

  10. Great page, I love owls, too and intuition is an important tool.
Forests I do not like though, bad memories - also I like to see where I go to! The ocean, please. Or the "flat land" But I look forward to your next work, hugs

  12. Fabulous nighttime page. We regularly see a barred owl couple on our back power lines at dusk, hear them too. There's a wooded pasture behind us, they must live there. xoxo
