Hi everyone. Happy end of the week. Another week has flown by for me. Did yours fly by?
Today I have a bit of art and some photos. I'll be linking up to Friday Face Off over at Nicole's blog and also to Friday Lunch Break at Gillena's blog.
Let me start with this journal page, my penultimate piece for Matilde's People challenge at Art Journal Journey. This challenge runs through this coming Monday, the last day of June.
It even has a face on it. 😏 This page is an insert in a journal I'm making. I used various paper pieces to make the background. I also stamped the numbers, dots and the light bulb. I did some coloring, gessoed over the numbers to dull down the color a bit, and added some yellow glitter to the light bulb. The woman is a TH image and the definition is a very old Cats Life Press stamped image. I finished by adding the tape along 3 edges and cutting out the crow from some clear tape and adding it to my piece.
You may remember the baby bluebirds that I shared some photos of earlier this month. Well Mom and Dad have had a second brood in the birdhouse, and those babies look like they're almost ready to fledge. I'm not sure how many are actually in the nest, but there's at least 2, since they are now sticking their heads out the opening on occasion.
And sometimes they even look like they're about ready to fledge. It must be getting crowded inside the house.
I wonder if this will be the last nest the parents have for the season or if they'll manage 1 more. I would love to get in and do a bit of cleaning in the garden where the birdhouse is located. I haven't had any chance to get in there at all this season as nesting of these 2 broods has been going on since early May. It's a good thing this garden area is supposed to look on the wild side and not be formal. 😏
I have lots of Spirea plants in my yard, most of them self seeded from two that I bought and planted a long time ago. I like how they fill in where the woods meet my lawn, and I like them even better when they are in bloom with pretty ink flowers. All the bees, both my honey bees and the wild bees, seem to love those flowers too. Here's just a few views.
In the garden around the bluebird house, I also planted a couple of goats-beard (Aruncus dioicus )
plants. At this time of year they have these long grass-like white blooms which are also attracting a lot of wild pollinators. I can't get close enough to photograph them without disturbing the bluebirds right now, so I took this next photo while standing in my veggie garden.

I think it makes an interesting photo even if you can't see the whole plant.
And I'll finish this post with these flowers from a dogwood that I passed while walking one day before the heat arrived. It was just covered in flowers.
Have a super Friday and start to your weekend.

Your garden looks terrific! In my experience I have never known Eastern Bluebirds to have more than two clutches, and often only one. Your birds have already done well this year. What a great success! All the best - David
Love your garden! I have never seen a bluebird here...lucky you having a family in your yard.
...Kousa dogwoods have been spectacular this year!
Good morning, your garden looks amazing! sweet little bluebird
Happy Friday
We all need more serendipitous lightbulb moments!
Love your art! And ohhh, the babies. And bees. I have seen but 2 bees so far only 2!
You have a wonderful yard/garden. Have a happy Friday, hugs
**How exciting—a second round of baby bluebirds!** 💙🐦 It’s amazing how quickly they grow from tiny fluff balls to brave little heads peeking out, ready to take on the world. (And kudos to Mom and Dad Bluebird for being such busy, dedicated parents this season!)
Fingers crossed you’ll catch their first wobbly flights soon—nothing beats that heart-melting moment. Keep us posted on their adventures! (And secretly hoping you’ll sneak in one more close-up before they fledge… 😉)
Double the bluebird joy!** 🌟🐦 So sweet to see the second brood almost ready to fledge—those little heads peeking out must be adorable. Nature’s hustle is real! Can’t wait to hear about their first flights. Keep the updates coming! 📸💙
Hosting a bluebird family is a really neat thing to do!

Really love your insert with the serendipity lightbulb moment! Fun way to use the theme and the bit of sparkle is fabulous! Your garden is stunning! Love that little bee!
Happy Friday to you Erika and what a wonderful piece of art - love the quote. Lovely pictures of your garden and those little bluebirds, I'm pleased your bees are doing well too.

How exciting about the bluebirds. Look at those cuties taking a peek. Your flowers are beautiful. I hope you enjoyed a spectacular weather day today
Ohhh I love your art piece! Your garden is amazing. How awesome to see the babies in your bird house. Also, the flowers are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a wonderful weekend.
I'm commenting once here but I've finally been able to read and enjoyed your posts, photos and art journal pages, tag and bookmark. All beautiful! We have those kind of tables down at the Kemah Boardwalk call them Porch Swing Tables, also huge adirondack chairs 3-4 people can sit in with their legs straight out like a recliner foot rest for photos. They are fun. XOX
I'm on my new desktop, waiting for my files to all restore (download). 318 gigs of data total and it's 15% transferred since starting at 9 last night, so it may be a while, lol. Anyway, never answered your question about our turtles. Hurricane Harvey (the one that trained rain and caused massive flooding) hit in Aug. 2017. We had a pool guy until then. During the storm, Honey had to go out to the pool pump and run it 3 different times, it was like 15 inches rain total. So, afterwards, no more/very little chlorine in it, right? Well, a few days after we were out there because pool guy left town, and we see 2 turtles in the pool. No idea how they got in there, but been ever since, 8 years now, and had families. And thought we had 4 but Honey just saw a 5th one with more algae on his shell than the others, so he must be a really shy one! Big too, so been there awhile. xox
They're awfully cute! I hope you get to see them fledge. Love all the blooms, especially the spirea and dogwood. Absolutely beautiful, Erika!
I love your latest journal entry. I really like the numbers along the side of the page and the TH lady. This is a wonderful addition to Matilde's theme at AJJ.
I'm glad you are able to capture one of the baby bluebirds. And I love the various flowers in your yard. Lots of color and beauty.
I am beginning to think that beautiful flowers, trees, birds, animals, seascapes and landscapes are put on earth, specifically, so that human artists will have wonderful material to work with. Otherwise you would be stuck with functional but not beautiful birds houses and metal letter boxes
Interesting journal page with great ideas!
Your garden is getting more and more beautiful with all the pretty flowers! How sweet the young blue tits are!
have a good day , hugs Elke
How lovely to have bluebirds in your garden ... which is looking good, very nice flowers.
Have a great weekend.
All the best Jan

Great page for your journal. It must be difficult coming up with so many for a theme. I've not had any head and shoulder people from TH so I am wondering if this is a different pack? Mind you I am still getting through my first pack, or maybe my second. Love the numbers down the side and the strip of fabric.
How lucky to have a camera that captures photos as good as the ones you take. Love the tiny birds peeking out of the bird house and the bee on the flower. In fact you have some beautiful. flower photos - love the dogwood you saw.
Hugs, Neet xx
