Hi everyone. Happy second half of the weekend to you. I hope your weekend has been warmer than mine started out. At 8 yesterday morning (when I was writing this post) with the wind chills it felt like -19 degrees F/ -28 degrees C. 😰 If you are also in this polar vortex I hope you're staying warm. Later today we're predicted to get a lot of snow. If you happen to be in the path of this storm, I hope you also stay safe and warm. Wherever you are, I hope you are having a super weekend and not having this wintery weather so much of the US and Canada are getting or about to get.
Today I'm joining my "What's Up?" challenge at Art Journal Journey. I'm also joining Gillena's Sunday Smiles and Nicole's Sunday in the Art Room.
I'm not sure what I think about this page, but I took a risk and gave it a try. My original thought was about looking up at some great art pieces in a museum, like looking up the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. I expanded it to go beyond looking at art in one place and looking at art in any museum. I wanted to include this woman; she is definitely interested in something up above her. I cut her out of an old book. Some of the art on the walls is also cut from an old book page, and some of that art is stamped with old rubber stamps.
I drew in the floor and walls. I painted the posts and then glued in some yellow waxed thread. Originally I had a cleaned off a stencil on the page and the white paint from that actually shows up pretty well so you see the windows and wall details, which I thought definitely added to the museum feel. The page was colored with yellow and brown inks and some watered down yellow acrylic paint. You can also see I stamped some city names where you'd find a lot of major art (and that I had stamps for). I stamped in some travel definitions. I also added the quote stamped with white ink on black paper. All that together finishes off this page.
I don't know if you'll like this page or not, but it is definitely a twist of the words Sunday in the Art Room.😉
Not to bore you with extra photos, but it was actually above freezing last Thursday. Before I went out and raked off the edge of the roof, I noticed water dripping off some icicles in my living room window. (I know, I need a life...ha ha.) Anyhow, I wanted to see if I could catch a water drop falling in a photo, and I did.
OK, enough for me. Have a super rest of your weekend and start to the new week.

It has been very cold here, too. I think it has been cold over much of the continent. It seems to me that none of us had heard of a polar vortex a few years ago, yet now the term is on everyone’s lips. We made good use of the weather yesterday. Along with four good friends we were out searching for Snowy Owls, and found two. In addition we spotted a couple of beautiful dark morph Rough-legged Hawks, so the day was a great success. There were other delights, too. Winter is wonderful! Sometimes, anyway. All the best - David
Sending good wishes for another cold day. I hope you don't too much of the snow. So far, so good here, though yes, frigid. But the heat is still going and the power is one, so I'll take it. LOVE that icicle photo series to the max!
Brrr, it's so cold where you are! I saw the snowstorm on TV. I hope it's not as bad where you are, what you've got is amazing... The icicles are so beautiful!
Your journal page is mystical with the figures and that woman, the background is fantastic, it fits perfectly.
Have a lovely Sunday, hugs, Elke
That's an interesting museum the woman is visiting. Or maybe she's in the Twilight Zone or the Upside-Down. I know the feeling. Your icicle photo is amazing. If there was a dish below the drop, you might have been able to get the Miliken effect. I think you're area is also in the 1 in. to 1,000 feet of snow. Take care and stay safe.
Gosh, that's really cold. We have quite nice weather here...just 0C, and no rain or snow..can't imagine having to go out to work or shop at -28C..
...yes it's Sunday and guess what? It's cold and snowing. Erika, be warm and well.
I like your page -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Capturing the moment that the drip dropped from the icicle looks very satisfying: nice image! I just read two books about the Renaissance and the Sistine Chapel is a key cultural icon (as well as an artistic masterpiece). I like it in your collage.

Erika! This is a suburb piece of art. Reading how you assembled it takes real artistic thought and careful decisions. I'm very impressed with this. Even if I had not read your description I was already taken by the background and then the woman looking up. It is just what I do when I go to a museum or art gallery. Taking everything in. Your icicle photo is excellent as well. Way too cold for me. LOL Thank you for sharing with Sunday in the Art Room SITAR. Stay warm over there.
Excellent capture with the water drop! I do like your page. There are a lot of layers and many things to look at. I particularly like the way the gargoyles (?) appear to be looking down at the woman who is looking up. And taken as a whole, the image does make me think of someone who is daydreaming about going to look at art museums or remembering previous visits. Stay warm!
Warm wishes Erika
Thanks for linking to SundaySmiles
🎇much love
That is a great photograph showing the water drop ... in fact two great photographs.
Stay warm and stay safe.
All the best Jan
I like the art page and it was interesting to read how you did it. The drop photo is amazing too.
Love that picture! How long and how many pictures did you have to take to get that one? Those can be tough to capture!
Sounds like a chilly weekend for you, we've stayed just above freezing which is just as well as the rain continues. But the Snowdrops are now through and my home delivery brought Daffodils yesterday so promises of Spring on the horizon.
Batten down the hatches from the impending storm and keep warm.

I see your art piece as seeing inspiration everywhere, we all see in different ways and mixed with imagination can create a wonderous scene. As a child I loved to stare at the clouds and see images and pictures form before my very eyes..
My its been so cold for you Erika, stay warm and cosy and keep up the creativity xx
Yeah, Erika, for catching that water drop while it was falling. Yes, we also have a lot of new snow from this weekend’s storm and the bitter cold, so we are definitely indoors and staying warm.
Dear Erika, I definitely know what I think about this page: In my eyes, it's fantastic! It showcases interesting artwork and an curious woman, has a nostalgic touch (which I almost always find aesthetically pleasing), and your coloring gives the image both vibrancy and harmony.
Oh, and congratulations on the photo of the falling water droplet—it's a truly captivating picture! I hope the freezing cold soon lets you go. It's already warmer here again—which unfortunately gives Edi and me a headache, but at least the air outside feels more pleasant.
All the best and have a wonderful new week ❄️☃️, Traude
Hi Erika! You NEVER bore me with your photos. Loved seeing the ice and the art. Wishing you a good day ahead and a fun rest of the week. Cheers, Ivy.
Your icicles photos are amazing, Erika!
