Hi everyone. Happy Friday to you. It is almost the weekend. And it is now officially spring, no matter whether you look at it astrologically or meteorologically. 💮☔🪺
Today I am joining Nicole for her Friday Face Off and also Gillena for her Friday Lunch Break. My post today is about a visit to a huge garden center that's in my area and that also stays open year round. Since they are located only a couple of miles away from where I dropped my sewing machine off for a cleaning, I didn't need much arm twisting to go by for (depending how you look at it) a very late winter or very early spring visit. 😉
This place just makes me happy. Besides all the plants, they sell planting pots galore. The way they arrange them by color really appeals to my artistic sense.
I have a couple of these small blue owl pots, and I'm thinking about getting a couple of the large ones. I have some dahlia bulbs that for the past couple of years I've planted in those cloth planting bags. The bags work great, but they aren't the prettiest. This year it's time to get a couple of big pots for them. I'm not certain what I want, but these owls are definitely on my list.
And if you wonder why my dahlia's go into pots, it's because when I have to dig up the bulbs in the fall I can find them easily. 😉
This is one of the biggest ferns I have ever seen. I'm not sure if you can make out the height from the bar where it is hanging down to those people, but those fronds are several feet or well over a meter long.
My husband was with me, and he pointed out this water function to me. It is really cool.
And here's a face for Friday Face off.
And can you find the face in this display.
I know not everyone likes to garden, but can you tell that I'm ready for garden season to begin? Big grin.
That's all for me today. I hope everyone has a great rest of your Friday and start to your weekend. And I seemed to have forgotten so I'll add in a Happy Spring to you also.
Those blue pots made me happy. I would LOVE that place. I can see why you would like it there. That was one incredible water feature with all the succulents and the jars sticking out. It's most impressive.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I enter through the doors of a garden centre with my wife I know that their cash registers will be ca-chinging merrily! Those pots look very appealing and she might well believe she just couldn’t live a moment longer without a couple of them. All the best - David
ReplyDeleteI’m looking forward to gardening too. I love the pots you have shared. I would like one of those owls. Happy growing season to you Erika :)
ReplyDeleteI can only balcony, but YAY to Spring - hugs and have a great Friday!
ReplyDeleteReally cool! I love ferns and that one looks really awesome!
ReplyDeleteA lovely visit! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAnd fun face! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDelete...I LOVE those water cans!!!
ReplyDeleteI love a large garden centre. In the UK they also sell gifts, often craft supplies, and sometimes leisure wear. They always have a coffee shop, so going to the garden centre is a lovely day out.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love those owl pots too.
I'm not doing much gardening (I don't have a garden) but not even pots as nothing grows in this unforgiving climate. I do want to get some bulbs though for next season. (and hope I can grow them indoors.)
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca
I love browsing in a really good garden centre too, even though I'm not a gardener or even a plant person really. Oh, and I really like those blue owl pots!
ReplyDeleteMy wife is the green thumb in the family, so she'd love the gardening possibilities offered by that place. However, I enjoyed the wondrous visual stimulation. Happy FFO!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like This Is The Day They Come For You. There is also a follow-up book about the same inspector but a different mystery of course. All Robert Goddard books are great and he has written a good few, so you will be ok reading-wise for a good while.
ReplyDeleteI haven't finished Precipice yet but am nearing the end. I really like it and I'm going to google it to find out what happened in reality.
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca
This is a terrific garden center. I love all those pots but the owls are really special and unique. And the watering cans, too! I need to get to my fave soon.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fun trip. I really love all those blue pots especially the owls. Happy First Day of Spring! Enjoy the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteSo many pots, we have one locally with a good range, but no watering cans like these on display, how colourful are they.
ReplyDeleteWe have garden vouchers for Christmas so a trip our before long I think.

I want those owl pots!!! They are gorgeous and I love the blue color. Garden centers are such great places to visit, expensive though (I never leave without anything). I hope that the gardening season will start for you very soon. Have a great weekend, hugs - Carola
ReplyDeleteOh my favorite place to be. I could spend some bucks here. That face is perfect for FFO and thank you for sharing. Have a very nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll be out in the garden playing in the (unfrozen) dirt very soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking ud along to visit the garden shop.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday
Thank you for linking to AFFF
Much love
Happy Friday to you too! This post is literally making me want to go buy a bunch of plants right now. I am honestly obsessed with those blue owl pots because they are so cute and would look way better than plain bags for your dahlias. That fern is actually insane though, it looks like it belongs in a jungle or something! I totally found the face in the display too and it made me laugh. It is so nice that your husband went with you and found that cool water feature. I hope you have the best weekend ever and get to start on your garden soon!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring-Oh Wow what a wonderful garden center-loveing those owls
ReplyDeleteWhat a great garden centre ... loved seeing all of your photographs.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring and Happy Weekend.
All the best Jan
What a wonderful place, Erika! Those gorgeous blue owl pots and that striking succulent water feature would seriously tempt me. We used to have a big garden when we had a single family home, but we've only done gardening in containers since living in townhomes. And now that we travel a lot, I've given up. I enjoy other people's gardens. I hope you have a lot of fun with your garden. Oh, and clever idea about putting your Dahlias in pots, so you can find the bulbs. 😂 🌺🤗🌺
ReplyDeleteI'd enjoy myself in that garden centre. I like the angle you've used for the watering cans.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice garden center.
ReplyDeleteI love the first photo of the large planting pots. And the way they are arranged in blue colours seems to be well planned. There is nothing as attractive as medium or large plants being planted in a large pot.
