Friday Once Again

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. Today I am joining Nicole for her Friday Face Off and Gillena for her Friday Lunch Break.

In the past couple of weeks we've had a few days of nice spring-like weather. 😀 It's much hoped for weather too. This is one of those years when everyone I talk to (in my area and even further a field)  mentions that it's time for spring.

However, there's still snow on the ground that is now melting, and anyplace there is open ground is  VERY wet and soggy. The best place to get out for a walk is the beach, so in the past couple of weeks  there’s been a couple of beach walking trips for me. Today's photos are from one day when I went walking with my husband and the 2 dogs.

It was actually quite crowded that day at Rye Beach (Rye, New Hampshire), but the tide was way down so there was plenty of room. I know it looks pretty empty in theses first couple of photos.

And do you think I could get a photo of both dog's and my husband's faces looking at the camera at the same time? Ha Ha!  Here's my faces for Face Off.

Seeing it's always 10 degrees (F) cooler by the water, that day we still needed hats and winter jackets for a walk.

And brrr. There's a group in the area that goes winter swimming. Even if the day isn't too cold, the ocean water in New Hampshire is  cold. Right now it's been about 38 degrees F/ 3 degrees C.

I like these next seaweed photos.

These crushed lobster traps and ropes certainly ended up a tangled mess.

After our walk, and since it was such a nice day, we also took a ride along the coast for a bit too.

That's it for me. I hope you're having some lovely weather whether you are awaiting spring for fall. Wishing you a great Friday and start to your weekend.

  2. Looks like a pleasant walk, even if a little cold. Seeing those tangled lobster traps and ropes is a sad reminder that the oceans are full of such detritus and animals as large as whales routinely become entangled and drown. All the best - David

  4. We had wind, rain, sleet, and hail last night. Looks like it's calming down now and starting to get warmer next week. The rain we always have with us--or at least on the horizon--LOL The daffodils are everywhere now. Since Tuesday is St Patrick's Day (and a holiday) we shall see if it rains on the parade. Happy Friday!

  6. Such lovely pictures! I love beach walks too, but live about 4.5 hours from the nearest beach. Happy FFO!

  7. Do those men swimming in winter not pay a price when they come out of the water? Do their wives not suggest they play soccer on the sand in tracksuits, rather than stripping off and freezing in the water?

  9. I've never been to Rye Beach. I looks like a very nice beach. Those polar bear dudes are really brave. Weather today is back to Winter jackets, hats, and mittens just to go fill the bird feeders. At least the sun is out. Enjoy your day!

  11. What a beautiful day you had, Erika! A walk on the beach is always wonderful, no matter the weather. It is sad that the lobster traps and ropes are just left as garbage at the beach. The seaweed, on the other hand, is beautiful. We sometimes need hats and warm jackets on the beach even in summer. It is our fridge on hot days - when it's hot in the interior, it is just warm or even cool at the coast and the wind can be punishing. No swimming at any time (too dangerous anyway because of the rip currents).
Wishing you a lovely weekend, hugs - Carola

  12. Thank you for taking me on your beach walk. It looks really nice (albeit a bit cold) Those guys are crazy going swimming in this sort of temperatures! But I know people do these things. Not for a million dollars!
Your seaweed and tangled rope photos are beautiful.
    Have a lovely weekend,

  13. You beach areas are so much nicer than here. OK, I really hate being cold, the swimmers to me are nuts. LOL I guess they are having fun though. Wonderful photos. I really like the ships and lighthouse and the lovelies for FFO. Thank you and have a nice weekend.

  14. That looks like an incredible place to walk Erika and so nice to see your husband and your dogs. Loved the photos! It was 85 degrees F. one day this week and after all the snow, rainy and cold weather, it was a very welcome surprise. However, it dropped 50 degrees in one day and it started snowing again. Wacky weather! Fortunately, the snow hasn't lasted because I think the ground was still warm enough to get rid of it quickly. Happy Friday and have a great weekend.

  19. What wonderful photos, Erika. I love that beach! And seeing you both, and the dogs, a big smile. Michigan (Northern) is facing another ice storm this weekend; where I am, just very heavy winds and rain. SO eager for summer!

  21. Whew, that sounds cold to swim though I love that folks do it anyway. Probably a wonderful thing for them. Great shot of your hubby and dogs even if both faces not the same. Love that the water was far enough enough that there was plenty of space to walk. Very, very cool.
