Time for a New Challenge

Time for a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday.  For the next two weeks we ask that you create some art with at least one stencil. We call this challenge Try A Stencil Or Two. Stop by and see all the great inspirational art at the Try It On Tuesday page!
I stenciled this pink paper with some white fish which inspired me to make an underwater scene.
Here's some close ups.
I used some die cuts with black paper to make the mermails. I also die cut the big shell in the middle as  well as the seaweeds. The rest of the images are various stickers.
I stamped the adventure quote on the right and used stickers for the words on the left.
I topped the page with some blue ric-rac trim. This represents the top of the water.

So I hope you decide to use some type of stenciling and join us. You can use a bought stencil or make a stencil. Die cuts can even be used as stencils. Be creative. We look forward to see what ideas you have!
See you over at Try It On Tuesday!

And there's another new challenge too. Over at Art Journal Journey Wendy is hosting. Her new theme is Having Fun.  I think that is what these mermaids are doing so I am going to link up my page to that challenge also.

Happy new month of art everyone!

  7. I always love stenciled work when I see it but never got into it myself, so it's extra fun to see yours. It really has a lot of motion to it.

  10. This was SO much fun, Erika. I totally got it, too, right down to the rick-rack for the top of the water. It's a great use of stencils and a wonderful way to also honor Wendy's theme at Art Journal Journey, too.

  20. I love how you have gone away from the traditional blues and greens for your background. Those rich colours you have chosen suggest the very depths of the ocean to me and the stencilling adds to the richness.
I just adore your mermaids, what gorgeous dies they are, so pretty, alongside the seahorses, starfish and other shells. You can just see them swimming along having fun together.
This is the perfect page to me.
    Hugs, Neet xx
