Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday.
It is the middle of May and already time for a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who joined in our Use a Stencil challenge.
This time you may still use a stencil if you'd like, but our newest theme is
BUTTERFLIES.
Here's my page for this latest challenge.
Have you ever been to a butterfly house? I've been to one a few times, and they are such amazing places to visit. That is the theme of my piece today.
I have a 4 ring journal that came with some pages in it. The paper is rough, but surprisingly takes stamped images well. It's not good with wet media though, so to color the white background I took an ink pad and rubbed it on the paper. I do like the texture that technique created.
I glued down some scraps of printed tissue paper. I also added a piece of washi tape. Next I stamped the butterfly wing image 3 times. Finally I glued down some acetate images, including what I am calling a butterfly house, and then I stamped the quote.
Be sure to check out the art the design team has included. There's lots of fun you can have with butterflies for this challenge. I am also looking forward to seeing lots of butterflies, because who doesn't love them? You have 2 weeks to join this challenge, and any kind of art is accepted.
I look forward to seeing your art over at Try It On Tuesday for our latest challenge.
Thanks for visiting my blog
Love this butterfly house! Beautiful page.
ReplyDeleteBom dia. A casa de borboletas ficou muito legal. Obrigado pela visita e carinho.
ReplyDeleteOur zoo has sometimes had a butterfly house feature seasonally. They really are magical :)
ReplyDeleteYour page brings back happy memories of trips with the Girlies to the Butterfly Place near Springfield, MA and the Butterfly Space in the Museum of Science in Boston.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous page! I love all your stamping and how you added the papers, and those butterflies are beautiful 😀. Take care and happy wishes! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteOur botanical gardens has a butterfly house. They even have an area where they show the various stages of the life cycle of a butterfly.. They start with eggs they get from a known source. These turn into the caterpillar, then the pupa (or chrysalis), and finally the butterfly emerges from the pupa/chrysalis. Some visitors get lucky and see the butterflies emerging.
ReplyDeleteYou have given us a beautiful entry for butterflies, dear Erika. I love the Butterfly House and the vintage look of it. I was surprised to read it was acetate. I really, really LOVE that background. It's amazing what a bit of rough texture can do for a background. Very nicely done, dear.
This is a beautiful page, and I love the theme! We have a beautiful butterfy room in our aquazoo. It is very warm and humid in there, and filled with tropical butteflies and tiny humming birds. I just find it hard to stay in there long because of the temperatures, Have a great week, sorry I am so late again! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteGorgeous art journal page! LOVE that texture on the background! We have a Butterfly conservatory here and it is amazing! LOVE your take on this!!! Have a fabulous week! ((HUGS)) Helen
ReplyDeleteI like how the background sets off the butterflies!
ReplyDeleteIt's a long time since I went to a butterfly house-my Granddaughter was about 8 at the time and she's now nearly 16! Your page is beautiful. Hugs,Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a butterfly house but I sure like your page...so pretty!
ReplyDeleteA great page Erika, love the textured background and the picture of your butterfly house,(haven't visited one since Laura was about 8, hopefully we'll get to take the twins one day.)

A fabulous and beautiful page Erika, super inspiration for the new theme.

Your butterfly page is gorgeous Erika!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! The building you used would make a good butterfly house. We have one at the Houston zoo that I've been to. XOX
ReplyDeleteVisiting a butterfly house is something I have always wanted to do. I remember my son sending me a photo of himself with a butterfly on his arm where it settled for quite a while apparently.
ReplyDeleteYour page is delightful and I love the background from simply rubbing the inkpad directly. I thought it had been carefully stamped.
Those acetate pieces really stand out and what beauties the butterflies are.
A great page again Erika.
Hugs, Neet xx
Beautiful page, like the texture you got with inking the page and all the pretty papers and butterflies. Love the idea of a butterfly house too
