Hi everyone. Happy October 30th to you. We're already at the end of October, well just about, which means that today I am sharing my last pages for Alison's challenge at Art Journal Journey. Thank you Alison for a great theme this month and more importantly, for being a wonderful host. And thank you everyone who joined us. Of course there's still a bit of time left to October, so if you want to join in, you still can.
Today I'm going with pumpkins, since tomorrow is Halloween. In fact my first page has a couple of not so spooky jack-o-lanterns to on it.
This first spread is from my Autumn Harvest journal. Not my favorite from the journal, but it works.
I used some leaf printed paper for the background. I really wanted to use this old TH photo of the man and boy in the pumpkin patch so my page is centered around that image. I colored the pumpkins in the photo just to enhance them.
I also die cut the wagon, and then I stamped as well as fussy cut a few pumpkins to put into it. I added some thin black washi tape and some black die cut lace along the bottom. To finish off my page, I typed and printed some common fall pumpkin foods, inked the paper and then cut it into strips for my page. Then I added a couple of felt jack-o-lanterns I had in my stash to finish it off.
My other page is in my autumn journal. The back side of this page was already stitched, so I worked around the stitching. I painted the background orange, and then I used a stencil with some white paint. Once dry I added the die cut stars, some punch out leaves, a pipe image, the sparkly moon and another felt pumpkin from my stash. I finished with some sticky quotes.
I still have some page from my autumn journal to share, but I'll save those for some other post.
Right on schedule, we have had just enough wind in the last week that many of the leaves have come down off the trees.
But they're not quite all down yet. Thank goodness Costco had battery operated leaf blowers on sale. 😏
That's all for me.

...I run my riding mower with mulching blades on the leaves and grind them into mulch.
You have some serious leafing to do! I hate leaf blowers and the noise -- but if I had your leaves I'd be in line for one too!
Most of the leaves are off the trees here. We leave ours on the ground until spring and then work them into the soil. The best soil enrichment imaginable and habitat for overwintering insects larvae and pupae etc. in the meantime. All the best - David
I can still see some leaves on the trees..but they will be gone in a couple of days. I like that pumpkin page.
Good morning Lovely fall post hugs
I enjoy walking in leaves and we have a fair amount around in the park and even on downtown sidewalks. One thing we no longer need to do is rake them. In some ways I miss that chore, but usually get over it 😉
Fantastic pages! I really love that wonderful leaf paper for the background on the top layout and the second page with your stitched edging is very cool along with that fantastic quote! The felt pumpkin and your background adds some great texture too! Looks like you had a nice journey walk through the leaves! Love all of those trees!
Love your pages! 🎃
Yes, here, too, leaves everywhere - glad the city-service takes care (some day). Well, it is Autumn... we can´t change it. Warm hugs on the way.
Lovely spread. It is 70F in Toronto for the next 2days and flowers are blooming again strange -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Quite a few leaves left over this way. My, you have a lot to gather.
Time for a leaf gathering party. :)
"Illuminate the dark with joyful art." Love the page and the message.
I love autumn but moan about the number of leaves we have in our garden that need collecting. Cannot imagine how big a job that is for you. Loved seeing Miss Maddie wandering about in the leaves.
Your first two pages have a lot of work in them, the background is lovely and the photo fits perfectly. I would love to see a pumpkin patch like that one. We don't seem to have them like you do although I have seen one or two baby photo sessions lately with pumpkins.
Your other page is vibrant and I love the black against the orange. You do some lovely backgrounds as in this one and I love the stitching.
Hugs, Neet xx
Happy Halloween! I love both pages, and all the pumpkins. All those leaves on the ground though, oh my goodness! Thanks for your visit today, sorry to hear about Madie's diabetes. I had a diabetic cat, he was treated with steroids for asthma, the steroids gave him diabetes. Steroids are cheap, insulin not so much. Poor thing was very patient with me as I attempted to extract blood from his ear to check his blood glucose daily. Finding a vein in a black ear - not easy!
I love the journal pages you shared. I really love the pumpkin entry as I love pumpkin pie. The other page was clever the way you worked around the sewing.
I don't have a riding mower like Tom has,. but I mulch mine with my push mower. I believe you said your leaves shouldn't be mulched.
I forgot to thank you for sharing your two spreads with us using Alison's theme at AJJ.
Two wonderful pages for my Autumn theme Erika!
Good luck with all those leaves!
Alison xx
Love your autumn pages. You like autumn themed journals! And wowza, so happy for you that you broke down and bought a leaf blower, geez. My blisters would have blisters on my hands to have to rake all that up. Honey resisted for years but this year bought a blower and a trimmer. For him, a convenience. For you, a necessity! OXO
