It's May

Hi everyone. Happy May. I don't know where April disappeared to but here in the Northern hemisphere May means we are really into spring now. After this past long winter, spring is really joyous this year, at least (in my area) with some beautiful weather as well as lots of greening up and flowers starting to bloom.

Before I move on, let me once again thank everyone who participated over at Art Journal Journey last month. It was a busy month and wow, it was great to see so many people linking up.

This month I want to welcome the talented Neet as our guest host. You probably know her from her blog Hickydorums. If you stop by AJJ, you have seen her fun Thursday pages and read her stories all based on a snarky quote.

This month Neet has picked the theme It Must Have Wings.  You can read about her choice over  at AJJ, but think about all the things that have wings.

For my first page I decided to go with airplane wings, mainly because I have been wanting to get away for a while now. Unless something pops up (and you  never what happens), I don't think I'll be going anywhere until September, and I won't be flying then, but planning a trip is as fun as when the actual trip happens.

I started by inking my page with a few shades of blue  and then stamping the flight map several times. After that I used white paint and painted the clouds, and when that paint dried I outlined those clouds. In the center of my page I created a collage of several images, some from some vintage Tim Hotlz stamps, some of a Deep Red stamp and some are vintage style air mail stickers.  The old fashion plane ticket is stamped on white paper and colored with various inks to look vintage before I cut it out, and the other images are stamped with black or colored inks and then fussy cut without doing any background enhancing.  I also used a TH stamp set to add the words on my page. Finally, to pull the page together I sprayed some pinkish-red ink over it.

I hope you decide to join Neet at AJJ with some winged journal pages this month. Please remember our dreaded rules. That means no cards, tags, dimensional art , etc. And if you link up through other forms of social media (other than blogging) please be aware that we may not be able to comment on your page. I have Facebook but not Instagram or other on-line groups, and even though I don't want to skip a comment, I can't link up if I don't belong.

I look forward to seeing your "wings".  And have a wonderful start to this new month also.

What a wonderful page Erika. I love how you produced your blue background littered with lovely white fluffy clouds. You have such a gorgeous array of stamps related to air travel and you make me long to be up in the air travelling to somewhere I have not been to previously. Love exploring all the different sights and sounds of a new country.
Thanks for joining in with my theme at AJJ Erika, especially with such a lovely journal page.
Hugs, Neet xx

I can't get Mr. Linky to publish our names and URLs, although it reads "That entry has already been added to the list." I thought I would take this time to visit and tell you how much I like the direction you took. It is totally different from Mia's and mine. I love the airplane and airmail. This is so clever and a great first entry for Neet's theme at AJJ.

Wonderful...
and the blue is a must for an airplane... because we mostly look at it in the sky and dream of flying to distant lands...
A hug for you and lots of love.

Many thanks. I prefer travelling relatively slowly by ship or train, but my beloved always feels sea sick. So before Covid we travelled largely by plane. Now, as a comfort, I will print your image and share the wings.

Really great interpretation of the wings challenge! I love how you've melted those clouds into the skyline! Nicely done with the bits of postage in there too!
