Wrapping Up May

Hi everyone. It's hard to believe that there's only a couple days of May left. Tom at The Backroads Traveller,  left me a comment one day recently that said his days seem to have wings. Mine do too, and those wings are beating at super-sonic speed. 😏

Today I want to share my final page for Neet's It Must Have  Wings challenge at Art Journal Journey. Thank you Neet for being such a fantastic host for us at AJJ. It was a super theme, and not only did I enjoy making pages, I loved seeing everyone else's journaling. I hope you'll be able to join us again next year. ❤

My last page is  a bit of a hodgepodge because I used lots of bits and pieces on my work table to make it.

I started using some yellow paint on my journal page to make it bright and sunny. You can see I used some more punch out and fussy cut images, an end of an envelope, a scrap of printed paper and also a small Victorian style paper image of a little girl and her dog. I finished by stamping some quotes, adding some little confetti pieces as well as some flower sequins and finally some sparkle glue too.

Since it's Friday, I am also linking this post of Nicole's Friday Face Off and also to Gillena's Friday Lunch Break. For faces this week I am taking you back to my local botanical gardens and another section of the student art display. This time I have some cool middle school paintings of some New Hampshire (and other places too) wildlife. The cool thing is these kids painted with mud, which is something I've heard of but never seen in any modern art.

That's all for me today. Wishing everyone a nice end of the month and start to June.

I can see that a whole new opportunity is opening up for me. I know where mud exists in great quantities so mud painting will be on the agenda. Well, maybe not on canvas. I have no trouble getting in on my boots, clothes, the floor of the car, etc. Just ask my wife. All the best - David

I continue to be amazed at the talent some of these high schoolers have. Whenever I go to art shows invariably there will be several high schoolers that are just crazy good.

i can't believe this month is gone already. All your scraps blend well together. Love the bear painting. We've had 2 bear sightings in my town. Same bear roaming in two different areas of town. Enjoy the last of the sun today

I admire your ability to find creativity in everyday moments and materials—it’s a reminder that art and inspiration often come from what’s right at hand. Your warm reflections on community and tradition in journaling feel like a quiet celebration of the past and present coming together.

May did zip by this year. Last year it felt like it would never end. Just 3 weeks until solstice! I love your page, especially because you used up the odds and ends on your table. It's fun to play with the odds and ends. Enjoy your weekend!

I have never heard of painting with mud - but they are incredible. Wow!
Yes the days are zipping by fast as a hummingbirds wings but your quotes are something for all to think and live by - excellent choice.
What a lovely vibrant page this is, a real celebration of summer and the beautiful colours we see in nature as she opens up for us with the warmth of the sun. Love how you have included the tiny scrap of the girl and her dog standing in the shaded of the tree.
I have so enjoyed your blog pages, especially those in your ledger journal.
Thanks Erika, we may never meet but I think of you as an internet friend and am grateful for all the work you have shared, especially with my theme 'it must have wings' this past month.
Hugs, Neet xx

Since there is a definite mud season i. new England, these young artists had plenty of “paint” to use. It appears they did so very successfully.

Hi Erika, just had a lovely catch up, enjoyed reading about your bees but having them indoors to keep warm would have had me worried! I'm glad they're all settled now. Lovely picture of the Mom bird feeding her young.
