T Stands for Winter's Return-AUGH!

Hi everyone. Happy new week to you. And hello to everyone who stops by for T Day from my link over at  Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog .

So what's new with me? Not much. Last week I did some spring cleaning which is not exciting but which always feels good to get done.  I cleaned some kitchen  cabinets, dusted the cobwebs away from the exposed beams, washed blankets, etc. Of course there are still about 50 other cleaning projects which may or may not get done, depending on how much longer there's still snow on the ground and how many blue sky days we get. The long term forecast for this week (right now) doesn't look very spring-like so I may be inside and may be doing more little projects. 😉 Or maybe I'll be outside shoveling. 😣

For much of last week we had 40 degrees F/ 4-5 degrees C temperatures  and blue skies. It was great.

One day I met up with a couple of friends, and we went for a 4.3 mile / 6.9 km walk.  At one point we saw 6 red tailed hawks circling together and calling out to each other.    This is the best photo I could get because I only had my phone on me. But look at that blue sky! ❤

It was a fantastic walk,  and I enjoyed being in the sun.

As you can see walking at home is difficult lately because my road went from snow/ice covered to this mud. (And this isn't even mud season mud yet.) Now with all the new snow, the road is covered with  a layer of snow again.

I can't even look at this any more.
I took this photo Saturday morning before we did any snow removal because we had a few new inches last Friday night.  And now as I write this post on Monday we're at the end of another  storm. 😩😭  We've been having an old fashion nor'-easter;  i.e. snow and strong winds to start the week. I know the city 2 towns south of my house was in the blizzard zone, so it could have been that at my house, but maybe not. I'm not certain. I hope if you're in the blizzard belt you stay safe and warm. I saw on the news some of the snow totals from southern New England. They certainly got hit big time.

I have 2 photos today for T. The first one was taken after my walk when I went out to lunch with my friends.

We ate at the golf course restaurant on Pease (a former US air Force base in the area), and they make the best pastrami sandwiches, so I had one with their homemade chips and water for my drink.

One other thing I did last week was make some sourdough muffins. You don't let these rise like you would bread, but you do add a cup of sourdough discard. Then you can add whatever you'd like to them. I added chopped dates, orange rind and the juice of that orange. They were not only tasty but light and fluffy too.   This photo shows my lunch when I was home one day.I just had to try one of the muffins-grin. In the glass is a coffee protein shake.

If anyone wants the recipe let me know in the comments and I'll add it to next week's T Day post.

That's all for me. I hope everyone has a great T day and week ahead.

You are so much better than I am in every single way! Cleaning and walking especially. All you do. I bow down in awe and appreciation. (Looks pretty but I'm so over it all!)

I love pastrami and I haven't had a pastrami sandwich in years.

Do you ever lose electricity because of eg snow storms? Have you got emergency food supplies in the house if driving is risky?

Happy new week to you, but keep warm and safe in the bad weather.

All the best Jan

First off: Thank you for always giving the "normal" measures" as in C/km - here, despite Australia has that system, too, many give you still feet and pounds. Feet I get thanks to footy but pounds I never have a clue and F... my brain refuses!
The blue sky looks wonderful (like here!).
Oh, boy, all that snow!
I so would love to try a pastrami sandwich. only know it from US-series!
No offence, but after that ice cream on Sunday my sweet tooth hibernates ;-) Have a great day, hugs

Yes, been reading about the blizzard! Hope your power has held and hubby didn't have to go into work. Your food looks great. I know those are kettle chips but they looked so much like Lays BBQ potato chips that now my mouth is watering, lol. I LOVE BBQ potato chips. xox

Your sandwich looks delicious! Recently I ate at a deli and had a roast beef sandwich — next time it will be pastrami.

Geez, winter never ends, huh? We are pretty lucky as it feels almost like spring over here..but unfortunately, no sun..well, you can't have all in life, can you? The sandwich looks awesome!

What a week of contrasts, from blue skies and hawks to mud and blizzards! That pastrami sandwich looks like the perfect reward after a 4-mile walk. Sending you wishes for some actual 'Spring' weather soon so you can trade the shovel for the walking shoes again!

Those sourdough muffins seem exceptionally appealing. Neither Miriam nor have ever made sourdough bread, let alone muffins, but there is a local bakery that makes an excellent version. My most vivid recollection of visiting San Francisco, a city whose alleged charm was lost on me, was truly fabulous sourdough bread. In that respect it live up to its reputation. All the best - David

I was thinking of you and you were in the path of the blizzard-your area has had sooo much winter thankfully we did not get much snow-but very frigid temperatures instead mostly it is getting hard for me now to do all that shoveling up the hill so am thankful.
before I knew I had celiac I made all of our bread-loved the sourdough too Hoping a warm up is coming soon to your area hugs Kathy

the blue sky is gorgeous. The sun is out this morning. Schools are still closed as crews work to clear roads, sidewalks, parking lots. I'm ready for my second cuppa this morning and your muffin would be tasty with it. Happy T Day

We weren't in the blizzard zone and I'm thankful! We have a beautiful blue sky today-we haven't had sunshine in a week or more, so that's good too. I'm waiting for the red wing black birds and grackles to come back. They're late this year.

Oh, that's what you call weather! I don't think I'd survive in such a cold climate, and a wet and slushy environment when it's less cold.
Lovely to see that hawk. So majestic. We get griffin vultures, also very majestic. I love watching them glide overhead.
I thought a pastrami sandwich would be bread with something on it. Don't know what pastrami is but thought it to be some sort of meat. But your sandwich looks like marbled cake with swirls of chocolate. As long as you enjoyed it.
Your muffin looks very yummy. I'll have one too please.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Looks like it was some storm! Glad you've been able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine when it's around! I'd love the muffin recipe.

First thing, yes please, I would love you to post the recipe. Sorry you've had another storm. They do make lovely photos though but I know, enough already :) We had snow but it was little more than a dusting. The sun is out and the driveway and path up to the front door is free and clear without having to get the shovel out. I hope you get rid of it soon. Glad you were able to take a walk even though had to be careful. It's good to get out and have a treat.

I vote for the recipe, too. Will it be to make the starter? I haven’t done a starter in years. I used to always have one going. Nice to see the hawks on your walk. I love it when .i can see wildlife on my walks. Happy T Day.

I can easily imagine that you don't want to see the snow anymore.
The pastrami sandwich looks really good, and even the chips are homemade. Sounds really good. Have a wonderful week!
