In the Woods

Hi everyone. I hope you're having a lovely weekend.  Friday and Saturday were absolutely gorgeous summer days since we had very low humidity, sun and perfect temperatures. It's been a boating weekend at my house, as my husband and I went out on Friday afternoon, and then, when the daughter and son-in-law visited yesterday,  we also went out on the boat. We don't usually go out on the weekends as it is  much busier not only putting in the boat but also out on the water. I'm glad we could take advantage of some beautiful weather though, and we didn't have the heat  we had had earlier in the week. 😏

Today I have some art that takes you into a pine forest not the ocean. I'll be linking up to Halle's Botanical challenge at Art Journal Journey.

I started this page by using some various stickers. The pine branch faux postage stamp went in the middle, and then I added the pine cones. I wasn't quite sure where to go next so I took out my watercolor paints and painted the  bits of pine needles and branches around my page.  I also used those same watercolors to splatter some brown and green around my page.

I outlined the edges with a brown Sharpie, and then took a few more stickers (the animals and the quotes) and added them to finish off my page.

And although I don't have any recent photos of many woodland animals, nor have I had any recent sightings of bears, raccoons or bunnies (nor any other forest mammals), I do have a couple of photos of some birds that more of less live in/around the forest since I took these next 2 photos at the lake where my mother-in-law lives.

Here's Mama duck and her babies, and then  a couple of Canada geese.

The wild turkeys were  recently back in my yard again too. They sensed me at the window and they quickly moved to the edge of the woods and into the shade so this isn't the best photo.

And how about this next forest duck? Ha ha. 😏My daughter picked this up for my husband when she was in New Orleans earlier this year for a conference.  I'm sharing this  for Gillena's Sunday Smiles.

Have a super rest of your weekend and also start to the new week.

What a grand experience it must be to have those Wild Turkeys as visitors. They have every reason to be wary of humans, but perhaps with time they can come to realize that you pose no threat. Enjoy the week ahead. All the best - David

Lovely page. The humidity returns today, but will be cooler at the beginning of the week. Feels like a lazy day today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Omygosh, are you planning to replicate the dash of that car you saw? Heehee
Love the scale of your background drawing on your page, it makes it blend in nicely with your smaller elements. I'll never forget when we had the Muscovy ducks nest in our neighborhood a few years ago. Mama somehow led her babies to our pool, which was already wetlands yuk for the turtles, so no one should fall in it or swim, KWIM? Well, they all got in, then Mama jumped out and began squawking franticly and pacing. Honey had to get a trash can and net and fish out the babies while I tried to keep Mama from biting both of us! Hope you have more great weather, xoxo

Oh you did have perfect weekend weather. That´s fine. Here weather is changing almost every day. Some days with heat in June are followed by rain, thunderstorms and lightning the one and sunshine the other day. Nice pics.
Have a good time

Love the pinecone page. I was in search of pinecones this morning on my walk. I want to try to sprout one like I've seen on Pinterest.
Love the lake pictures!

What a great botanicals page with the pine cones and the forest animals. Really a fun entry for Halle's theme at AJJ.

Having wild turkeys in your yard must e a treat. I hope they don't feel threatened. They look like they need protecting, too. Hope your day is going well.

Those pine cones look three dimensional - I could almost reach out and touch them. You made a super page with lots of botanicals and animals.
In real life I love the wild turnkeys. I would be pleased if i got such a good shot of them.
Hugs, Neet xx
