August

Hi everyone. It's August 1, can you believe it? Time flies, especially in summer. Or so it seems. 😏

Once again let me thank Halle for her Botanicals challenge at Art Journal Journey last month. And thank you everyone who joined her. July was the perfect month for this theme.

Our August host is Chris, who you probably know from her blog PearShapedCrafting. It's good to have you back at AJJ Chris, even if it is just for the month. ❤Chris has a picked a challenge that is as perfect for August as much as Halle's was perfect for July. Her challenge is

Hot Summer (Nights and Days)

As Chris said on the AJJ page, this theme is all about hot summer and holidays. My first page is all about the heat that so many of us have been having this summer.

This page is in my small summer journal I've been working on. Even though the journal is made with colored cardstock, I covered the page with this hot pink paper.  I then stenciled the image which reminded me of sun rays. In the center I added a small fabric sticker. These stickers are white and printable, so I used an orange paint pen (the same color I made the dashes and dots on the sun rays) to color the sun.  The seagulls are die cuts, and the words are using some stickers.

That's all there is to it. But it is definitely a hot page for a day (at my house) that isn't supposed to be very hot. ( After our temperatures having  been  in the 90's degrees F/ mid-thirties degree C with high humidity for several days,  I'm excited about the cooler day!)

Please don't forget our dreaded rules at Art Journal Journey. 😛👍😀Your entries must be some type of journaling, and please NO CARDS, ATCs or TAGS unless they are part of a journal page. And please, no back links. We only accept new art. If anyone is linking up through social media, please be aware we may not be able to comment because we don't  belong to all the various social media connections. We may not all be able to read or communicate in other languages too, so please be sure you have a translation link up.

I'm thinking about all the Hot Summer ways to create a journal page, and I'm sure you don't need any suggestions. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone who joined us at AJJ takes on this challenge.

What a great first entry, Erika. I can almost feel the heat from this post. I love the bright colors you chose and the sun rays. Thanks for sharing this using Chris's theme at AJJ.

What.Can.I.Say.
Turkey, Greece, Spain... HOT, woods burning, Firefighters exhausted. Just like your page shows....
Too hot.
Here.
Grey, cold, wet. Long clothes, hot tea, Rexi is NOT on holiday...
Thank you, I soaked up your art and feel better - happy Friday, hugs! (Send some temps over, please?)

Wow! This hot pink and orange really does represent the heat you have been experiencing! I hope it is cooler now, the weather here has forced me back into wearing socks again. It's a fabulous page to start my theme this month, hugs, Chrisx

WOW! What a hot page! I love the way you depicted Chris' theme with your pink journal page. The perfect shade of pink to depict heat! With that hot sun, love the texture I can actually feel the heat which is great on a dull grey day here in the north of England,
Your beautiful seagulls just ad the perfect finish to this fabulous artwork. They are beautiful diecut birds (whose are they please)
Hugs, Neet xx

I like what you've done here, Erika. It does give off a hot vibe, but the gulls also give me a hint that there could be some relief from the heat with a cool sea breeze. Happy August!
