Hi everyone. Happy weekend to you. Instead of posting on Sunday this week I am posting on Saturday.
It's August second which means it is time for this month's Second On the Second challenge over at Bleubeard''s and Elzabeth's blog. To participate all you need to do is share a post you've already shared before.
I have 2 older journal pages to share today. The first one is from August 26, 2016. This post is all about summer reading which I enjoy- just like the rest of the year. 😏 It was the perfect post for that day in 2016 because after having my first day back to school (a teacher work day) I came home in the late afternoon and slumped on my hammock to read.
I can't believe that this was 9 years ago, because it certainly doesn't seem that long ago. Grin.
My second page is from August 19, 2022. Chris, who is our current host at Art Journal Journey, was also hosting that month but instead of her current theme of Hot August (Days and Nights), her theme was When We Were Young. I created this page which is still one of my favorites.
To wrap up my post today I have a new art journal page to share. Chris' Art Journal Journey theme this month is Hot August (Days and Nights), and what's better to do on a hot summer day than to go to the beach? (Well, maybe stay out of the sun and sit in AC? Grin.)
This page is in my recent summer journal that I've been working on. The perspective is a bit weird, but I was thinking of the ocean and how there is no opposite shore. There just is sky. But this ocean looks more like a river without an opposite bank to me.
The pages of this book are made with various colored cardstock, and to create this beach scene, I painted in the sand and added a bit of water along the edge. I also painted the clouds. The umbrella is stamped as are the people, the quote and the birds in the sky. The sun was stamped and after being colored, enhanced with some glitter glue. The umbrellas was painted with red and yellow Posca paint pens. The lounging lady was colored with markers.
I am also linking up to Gillena's Sunday Smiles.
Thanks for stopping by to visit. Have a wonderful weekend and start to the new week.

...often the old becomes new again.
So fun how these journal pages evoke such memories when looking back at them, even after years have passed. You do such an excellent job of capturing a feeling in your art work.
A fun look back. Your beach page is making me think of my trip with Teague at the end of the month. Enjoy the day!
A day at the beach is GREAT! So no sign of good weather here...just bloody rain..where is the SUMMER??
Lovely pagea old and new -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Beautiful summertime art, Erika 🤩, I especially like the AJ page for the hat sumer theme 🥰
Happy weekend my friend 😘🌸🍒
Wonderful pages you've shared today Erika! I love the people in each one! The sentiment on the top is definitely something I can relate to! The clouds on the last are brilliant! All make me happy too! Thanks for the inspiration!
Loving your artworks, how lovely to spend time reading in a hammock in the shade of the trees on a hot summer day - sounds perfect to me 😊. Happy wishes! Hugs, Jo x
Both old and new ... I like your pages :)
Happy weekend and happy August wishes crossing the miles to you.
All the best Jan
I loved seeing your 'seconds' ! Your beach page has a great retro illustration look to it - absolutely brilliant! Thanks so much for making this for my theme Hugs,
OMGosh all of these are just fantastic. You are very talented my friend.
I didn't think I could possibly have followed you nine years, but I THINK I remember your opener!
Three very different pages all telling their own story in such detail, I can identify with the first, very much like the drama of the second and would just love to be on the beach in the third.
Have a good Sunday.

Time passes quickly...when I have a look in my photo-archive I also can´t believe that this is so far away. But the works stay beautiful.
Have a good time and thanks for your kind visit to my blog.

Love the throwback pages, Erika!! You seem to consistently excel at executing your ideas and themes--that's so wonderful. And so many memories--your post makes me want to flip through my old art journals too. I like your beach page--it reminds me of beachside cliffs, which are also nice to lounge around on. 😊 Happy August, and have a great summer! Anita xx
I love this earlier artwork and the page for the new hotsummer theme, it fits perfectly with the ocean and the beach!
Hugs Elke

Love your day at the beach. I am longing to be the young lady sitting under that giant umbrella, that is my ideal thing. Saying that I think I would need a back prop to keep me sat up and also the sand from my rear end, thinking about it.
Thanks for sharing pictures from the past, how funny that Chris happened to be hosting with the last one you show.
Have a great time
Hugs, Neet xx
Erika, I absolutely love your art journal pages! The first page captures the perfect moment of relaxation after a tough first day of work. And your second page is simply beautiful - it’s no wonder it’s one of your favorites. (It’s so cool that Chris was hosting that month too!) But my favorite is your beach day page. I love the textured cardstock background, the fluffy clouds, and the cheerful sun and umbrella. And the stamped people on the beach are amazing, too! Thanks a bunch for sharing your creativity with us. Lots of hugs, Sharon
Beautiful pages, Erika! Great for Chris's challenge at Art Journal Journey.
