Hi everyone. Happy Friday to you. Today I'm taking you back to part of our Nova Scotia trip that we took in September. It's a bit of a long post-again! 😏 I'll be linking up to Nicole's Friday Face Off and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break, but I do want to mention that I'm heading out of town today and have a crazy weekend ahead so I may not be able to visit your blog until later this weekend.
Yesterday's post (which you can find here: Cape Breton Arrival) was about when we arrived on Cape Breton Island. I finished that post by mentioning the interesting Air B&B place where we stayed called Valley View Chalets. I want to share that today.
Our place for the night was in the Margaree Valley which is a rural area known (as I was told) for salmon fishing. To get to the chalets we had to dive up a very steep gravel road just under a couple of miles. You can see (in this next photo) the cabin colony where we were staying. This photo was taken from the driveway and parking area. Notice the cabins are sitting right on the side of a mountain. I could never get a shot of the front of the cabin because I didn't really want to go climbing down into the brush. With my luck I would have slipped, hurt myself and ruined the rest of our journey. 👎
Our cabin was the closest one on the bottom right hand corner of the photo.
Off the front of the cabin was a large gated deck (perfect for the dogs), and this fabulous view
I'm glad we arrived around 4 PM because we had some time to sit outside and enjoy the nice day and this beautiful view. In these next 2 photos I have a couple of faces for Friday Face Off.
Our cabin (Bud's Place) was a little studio with a kitchenette, a nice big comfy bed, a separate bathroom, and
this tub. I guess if you've been hiking all day the tub might feel good. Or you could sit and soak in it and enjoy the view down the mountain. Even though the front of the cabin is all windows, with the cabin being on the side of a steep hill I don't think you'd have to worry about anyone peeking in. 👍
The only negative I had was that the little table next to the tub was the only table in this cabin. I don't think the cabin was really set up for spending your day inside it, but then, with the gorgeous scenery in this area, why would you want to just lay in bed all day?
I did notice on their website that ours was the only cabin with the jet tub, so I imagine the other cabins had different set ups.
The next morning when we got up the whole valley in front of the cabin was fogged in. Here's a couple of photos from when I took the dogs out for a morning stroll. Our cabin (Bud's Place) was the second from the right. You can see the cloud and just the top of the mountains in this photo.
In this next photo you can not only see the fog bank behind the telephone pole, but you can see the steep gravel road too that took us up to the cabin from the valley below.
The sky had a pretty color as the sun came up and the fog slowly dissipated.
In this next photo you can just see the farm down in the valley. On the wall of the cabin was an interesting story. That farm used to be where these cabins now were. When the man who owned the farm over 100 years ago got too old to manage the steep land, he moved the farm down into the valley. The farm is still owned by the family of the man who built and moved it. In his memory they built these cabins so other people could enjoy the view that their relative loved so much.
I enjoyed watching the fog burn off. It's one of those things that is good to do first thing in the morning with a big cup of tea or coffee. I hope I didn't bore you with all the fog photos.
When we finally got moving and left, we went down the hill for breakfast. Several people had recommended this bakery and restaurant to us. And now I am going to recommend this place to you if you ever happen to be in Magaree Valley. It is owned and run by women, and breakfast was delicious.
Not only did we enjoy our breakfast but we had some good conversation with the local couple at the table next to ours.
And we also bought a couple of bags of their homemade cookies for the road. ❤ 🍪
Have a super weekend ahead.

You found interesting accommodation, Erika, and that really is quite a view. But the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton in general in fact, is just one gorgeous view after another. That looks like quite a breakfast, too! All the best - David
Such a beautiful place and I love that cabin!
Wow! What an incredible place to stay! I loved the fog photos. I definitely would've been there with my hot beverage watching it burn off. That's a great story about the farm and how the cabins came to be. I hope you have fun throughout your crazy weekend.
...Erika, keep these fabulous Nova Scotia images coming. I enjoy them. Be well.
What a delightful place. I would enjoy staying there I am sure. Nova Scotia is on my places to visit bucket list.
You had such a lovely place to stay, relaxing in the sun was wonderful, but the fog was beautiful too!
I always smile when I see your breakfast. So different from what we have here.
Those were such great, interesting photos from your vacation!
Have a wonderful weekend!Hugs Elke

Sure your Nova Scotia trip was great. And in addition of scenes you could enjoy good accommodation 👏
I'm wishing a happy weekend to you and yours 🥰🍂
I loved the fog photos, especially those with the hint of pink in the clearing sky. I'm loving this trip -- you had a perfect spot to stay. I love talking to locals at a restaurant and it looks delish. Thanks for this series. I'm savoring it!
I love where you stayed and I'd be outside on the deck most of the time. Really, really, really lovely.

This is a great place. I want that tub. LOL The Dancing Goat what a great name and good looking food. Thank you for sharing with FFO and a have a great weekend.
what a wonderful trip!
A lovely vacation, beautiful place.
What an amazing place. Such beautiful views. I smiled at the tub. Did you actually use it? I love reading about your travels. The fog photos are stunning. I get fog like that in front of my house and it's strange to be above the fog, looking down on it.
Have a great weekend,
Lisca
Lovely views from your visit and stay ...
Enjoy the coming weekend.
All the best Jan
They do look like nice fluffy pancakes.
Lovely place.. Have fun
I never get bored by fog photos and I really enjoyed yours, Erika. Such gorgeous views! Those cabins are in the perfect location, but I agree with you, just this one little table? Since there is a kitchen with a full stove some people maybe cook in there or at least want to make breakfast, so where would you sit and eat comfortably? We had something similiar in Hanksville near Capitol Reef, a great kitchen, comfortable beds, a separate bathroom - but no table. Honestly, I'd rather have a table than a jet tub and a TV. Have a lovely weekend! Hugs - Carola
What a fabulous setting for the cabins, wonderful scenery.
What a great spot for your vacay! xox
That cabin looks so cozy, and the views... WOW! Talk about inspirational. Blessings!
Hups, I see you only now! Wee, quite an adventure - and in summerly temps, too!
Aha. I think we have but a "kitchenette", too, then....
Crazy with the tub!
Beautiful, foggy scenery and such a nice story, too.
I LOVE and seldom see fog these days, so this was a treat, not boredom!
Hmmm, looks yummy, one wants to dance - have a great start to the week, hugs
Wonderful scenery. I love the deck. I'd be out there all Summer. The bakery has a fun name and breakfast looks delicious.
I am late in catching up on past blog, Erika, but enjoyed seeing the photos from your Nova Scotia trip and fog is always interesting to take hotos of, so no worries about too many!
