Hi everyone. It's already another Friday. This week, other than some rain on Monday, has been on the warmer side. But at least it's our week at my mother-in-law's lake house so I have gotten in some cooling water time. 😏
Speaking of heat, I wanted to share this summer page for my challenge at Art Journal Journey. This month the theme is In The Good Old Summertime. I'm also sharing with Nicole's Friday Face Off and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break.
Today's journal page is a mostly paper collage. I started by using this sheet of blue paper as my background. Then I painted in some sand and added some blue paper for water at the edge of the sand. However, I couldn't get the sand to look like I wanted it to, so eventually I dug through all my art supplies and pulled out this bottle of these sand looking paint chips called Fragments. I spread some glue and then put them down. Next I fussy cut the 2 bathers (Ciao Bella emphera book) and then added a sailboat to give the page more depth (49 and Market). Finally I stamped some various words/phrases and colored in the story word. There is definitely some kind of story going on with those 2 people. You can decide what you'd like that story to be. 👍
I also have a few other faces to share that I snapped around my yard recently.
Isn't the baffle supposed to keep the squirrels out of the bird feeder? 😏
The bird bath is actually a bee bath in my yard.
I know there is nothing for scale in this photo, but a tiny little toad was hopping around the yard.
I got lucky and could get a photo of this dragonfly before he flew off.

Here's a diva dog who didn't want just dog food for breakfast one day. (When I put in a tiny bit of shredded cheese she ate it all in about 3 minutes. 😉)

The wild blackberries near my driveway have been ripening. Yum!
And a morning's pick from my garden. I've never grown or even seen an albino zucchini before.

To Summertime!!! Here sadly cool again. So your art cheered me up!
And the faces - enjoy!!!! Tomorrow Summer will likely be back, too - and maybe the cooler weather helps with all the fires, too. It´s not "me-me-me", right!

That squirrel is very clever :-) The diva dog needs to lose some weight...so no more cheese :-))

...yes, we like to spoil our pets too. Both our cats have now crossed the Rainbow Bridge – most recently our sweet Luzie, after 18 years. So I completely understand why you spoil your lovely dog. That’s just the way it should be!

All of these photos are fabulous. You know I love what you got from the garden. The frogs especially delight me but the bee bath is awesome. That illustration is classic. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have the best weekend.

Your art journal page makes me think of Barbie and Ken! A real retro vibe! And I just love your bee bath -- the yellow honeycomb "landing pad" is such a fitting touch!
Some great wildlife photos Erika and smiled at the Squirrels, one of the animals I enjoy the most with their antics, we have both grey and black and since they started interbreeding a few interesting 'new' varieties.
A bit of cheese works wonders doesn't it.

There is definitely a story going on between the mid century couple what a great image Erika lovely collage page, reminds me of the picture books I used to use in my playgroups where the children would make up their own version of the story and recall it in their own words, very clever page.. Full on Summer indeed... (Use any idea you find my end lovely and don't waste money on expensive coloured texture pastes, just colour it yourself with paints or stains xx )
I'm laughing about the feeder, I have one just like it and the squirrels make such a racket clattering it about to get the food from it haa haa..
What a bounty of food you have grown, it's been so hot here & everything has just baked, I really need to rethink my garden as nothing is being given a chance.. Well done & enjoy it all.

You have a regular little wildlife preserve, Erika. There is lots to interest me there. I’ll be over shortly to enjoy it. Please set out a bottle of wine and some good cheese. A fresh baguette would be appreciated, too. My camera battery will have a full charge and nothing will escape my attention. I will, of course, share the pictures! All the best - David
