Art & Photos from Another Walk

   Hi everyone. Happy end of another week.  This past week was busy even though I didn't have much on my calendar. I've been trying to do a few inside cleaning projects that need to be done. However, I can't say I've managed to get very far into my list. I shouldn't have started  by cleaning up my art space because that seems to have turned into a major project. 😉 (But it is much needed.)

  It's time for Nicole's Friday Face Off and also for Gillena's Friday Lunch Break. I also have a journal page for Wendy's A Moment in Time challenge at Art Journal Journey. On my journal page is my face for Nicole's challenge.

   I used  a maple leaf stamp with red ink, some orange ink and a stencil with blue paint to make the background.  The number square is from some older packaging I've kept to use because it was too nice to toss out. Then I added some leaves and clocks, both images from AALL & Create. I added a small crow from a roll of clear tape and also some string that was sitting on my work table. I'm not sure who made the girl's face because she was loose in my stash (I suspect I cut her out of a sheet of paper) and finally I used a TH quote to finish my page.

 

    I believe the new challenge at Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge Blog starts today, and I'll be linking a my page up over there also.

   A couple of weeks ago I was out for an appointment. I decided it was such a lovely day I needed to go walking afterwards. I ended up heading to the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth (New Hampshire) since I hadn't walked there in well over (if not longer) a year. 

   The dogs and I had a lovely walk, and I thought I'd share some photos from it today. 

   First here's some relaxing views along the trail. Along one side of the Urban Forestry Center is a salt water marsh and river.

 I also had some fun taking some close up photos.  This white fuzz in this next photo at one time was some blooming asters.

I believe these yellow berries are a form of bittersweet. 

Here are some tiny crab apples.

Any guess who's been this hole?

These attractive red berries are winter berry.

These purple berries are poke weed berries, not elderberry, and are poisonous. .

An Autumn Walk

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. 

  A couple of weeks ago week we had some beautiful autumn weather compared to yesterday’s chill and wintery weather.  

This was yesterday morning. Luckily today it will (or so the weather people say) warm up enough for the snow to melt.

Today's post is not about snow however. One gorgeous morning 2 weeks ago when Miss Maddie was at doggy daycare, Pete and I went for a walk at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth (New Hampshire).

I thought this week I'd share some photos from our stroll for Nicole's  Friday Face Off  and Gillena's Friday Smiles.

The water you see  is Sagamore Creek  flowing through the salt marsh.

And here's a few faces I discovered during that walk for Nicole's Friday Face Off.

Pete says it's time to go back to the car  for a drink.

And I say time for me to wish you a happy weekend. 

One  last thing- my daughter is coming today for a start to the weekend visit, so I may not get around to visiting people until later this weekend. 

Autumn Owls

 Hi everyone. Happy Friday. Another week is winding down, and it's getting to be late in the month, isn't it?  Before we know it, it will be November.

I also want to mention that a few of you have said you are getting responses that you can't comment on my blog. I am getting those comments, so I guess it is either something up with blogger or my blog, but anyhow just so you know, comments are coming through.

My page for today is an autumn one from my owl book. I am linking it up to Art Journal Journey and Tracey's My Favorite Colour Is October challenge. Today the owls have visited the local pumpkin patch, and they are trying not to scare any visitors who might be there getting a pumpkin for Halloween. Good thing it is still early in the day and only the pumpkin farmer and his helper are out getting the displays finished for the day.

I layered some printed pieces of paper (from the inside of a few packages I had collected over time) and some scraps of a printed paper bag to start the background. I painted over some of these pieces with green and orange paint.  To complete the background, I rubbed a brown ink pad over the whole page once the paint had dried.

All of the pumpkins are made using stamps from my collection. They were stamped on paper, colored and fussy cut.  I also used some of this  black lacy plastic tape. The tape's been in my stash forever, and it must have lots of yardage as it doesn't seem to be used up even though I  pull it out every fall.

Finally I stamped the owls, and I then colored over the owls  with black Sharpie to be sure they are the blackest they can be. I also added paint dots for eyes.

To wrap up today's post,  here's a few  photos from a walk I took at the end of last week that I could  also call My Favorite Colour is October. 

My friend and I have made it back to  our local walks. We haven't done that all summer, but now the gardens are closed for the season, and the local places, like the beach, are no longer charging for parking. This time we went to the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth. I've taken you here before. 

It wasn't the sunniest of mornings, but that made it more comfortable to walk. It also made the colors pop more because there was no sun to wash them out.

This catbird posed for me, even as I stepped closer for the photo.

It was lovely to go back and walk there.
